DuckTales: Season 1 (2017)

Season 1

Critics Consensus

Highly energetic, distinctively designed, and attuned to its nostalgia, this update to a Disney animated classic is far bolder than its predecessor.

Critic Reviews for DuckTales Season 1

All Critics (11) | Top Critics (2)

Yes, DuckTales is seriously funny ... mostly because of its irreverent and somewhat self-aware tone.

Aug 15, 2017 | Rating: A | Full Review…

So, some news: The new DuckTales is better than the original show. Funnier, more ambitious.

Oct 16, 2017 | Rating: A- | Full Review…

Maybe it's just Tennant's voice, but DuckTales reminds me of Doctor Who at its best - an eccentric adventurer is accompanied by charming companions as they "might solve a mystery/or rewrite history" as the theme song promises.

Aug 18, 2020 | Full Review…

With all these homages, odes, and new character development, DuckTales doesn't slack odd in the comedy. Fam, the show is hilarious and full of one-liners from everyone.

Jun 11, 2018 | Full Review…

Even if today's young generations somehow go their whole lives without ever checking out the original series, no regrets should be had, so long as they watch this one

Aug 15, 2017 | Rating: 4.5/5 | Full Review…

The new DuckTales is confident in its own story and barrels ahead without looking back.

Aug 10, 2017 | Rating: 5/5 | Full Review…

What remains most significant throughout, though, is the emphasis on love as a self-sacrificial quality that demands hazard.

Aug 25, 2017 | Full Review…

The mix of adventure and humor should appeal to fans young and old, and maybe even have a few of them saying "woo-oo!"

Aug 18, 2017 | Full Review…

Woo-oo! Adventure, fun, and laughs abound in Disney reboot.

Aug 16, 2017 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The animation and character designs are truly gorgeous, combining the old comic book sensibility with modern, simplistic cartoon styles in a fun way.

Aug 15, 2017 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The animation is rudimentary, but there's a lot of nostalgia packed in its return.

Its a family favorite must see. It's fun for kids of all ages and parents can watch without their brain's melting or worried about the content for their kids. Hilarious, full of adventure and well written. It is much better than the original. Webbigail is what you want your girls to have as a role model. Smart, strong, and awkward geeky. A well rounded hero instead of a sidekick for the boys to save. It has some great social commentary as well.

Woo-oo!"

My favourite Disney TV show. Love it so much!!!
  • Oct 20, 2019
This is my favorite Disney show. It has comedy, adventure, mystery, everything you would want in a TV show. It is not cheesy, it is not corny, not slow, its a perfect family-friendly show for all ages.

Very fun show reboot in a time where animated reboots stink. The stories are funny and exciting, and the characters are all interestingly distinct and unique. Good Job Disney XD!
  • Jun 05, 2019
The last episode is much more interesting, thanks to the plot, the character and the ACTUAL adventure. The rest of the series feel boring. I don't care about the lazy things the three nephiews do all the day long. I want to see much more treasure hunting, much more Scrooge & Donald, and for goddess sake.. The comics were much more mature. Why brings Scrooge's parents alive? Why Goldie is still young? Why Della was so important, but not their father? Why Webby? I like some humor, but the rest of the show is just heartless..
