Critic Reviews for Good Boy
As you might imagine, the tonal balance between something that's part Private Life and part Cujo is a bit tough and director Tyler MacIntyre can't quite hold it together.
Overall, the mixture of comedy and social comedy about the plight of women struggling for a work/life balance mostly works for me, especially considering the game performance by Judy Greer.
INTO THE DARK: GOOD BOY may not be the best in the series, but who cares when you have the goodest boi of them all chewing names and clawing butt.
Good Boy is a slight thing made more character-rich by Greer.
Good Boy is a campy film that doesn't really have a low point. While there are some odd choices in its storytelling, this is one well worth watching, especially for dog-moms.
Good Boy is well-served by the unlikely but undeniable chemistry between Greer and Chico, who plays her loyal canine pal Reuben.
Into The Dark: Good boy is one of my favorite episodes of this season. Not only is Judy Greer so perfect at being just a little creepy, the plot is great too.
You're watching Good Boy for Judy Greer, the softest pair of puppy-dog eyes in the biz, and random violence enacted by a knee-high pooch who you'd never suspect.
Good Boy doesn't have a plot so much as a gimmick: It's not funny enough to function as satire, nor is it scary enough to work as a horror film.
I found myself almost completely engaged with Into the Dark's latest episode "Good Boy," even though it suffers from some of the same woes plaguing the series as a whole.
