It becomes impossible to care about the answer to that question because "The Current Occupant" drags out its answers way past any logical breaking point.
Owing more than a little to the old Twilight Zone, "The Current Occupant" executes a balancing act with considerable aplomb.
One with both the bleakest ending and, strangely, one of the most optimistic.
The sort of ambitious indie genre picture that obviously has a lot on its mind yet struggles to say anything original or insightful.
While the latest Into The Dark installment is bleak and will crush your hopes, it'll have you wondering about conspiracies, reality, and what really happens when the institutions that are established to help us actually end up harming us instead.
It's the type of thriller that lasts the runtime by purely keeping the mystery at bay until the dying embers. Running at a healthy 85 minutes, you cannot grumble or assume time has been wasted.
There's little that sets The Current Occupant apart from any other indie horror flick that includes padded rooms and not-all-that-complex mysteries of the mind.
