Steve R @RT15971205 11/19/2024 I have watched the Food Network transition from simple and informative to the food game show network. I am interested in learning to be a better cook, not in watching Bobby Flay humiliate a restaurateur in their own specialty. Then I saw an ad for La Pitchoune: Cooking in France and was intrigued enough to subscribe to HGTV in order to watch it. It did not disappoint on any level. They cooked the way I like to cook, with fresh ingredients and without recipes. Their field trips were informative and filled with local charm. The hosts were passionate about their food, their lifestyle and teaching their guests. These were whole people doing what they loved while allowing me to evesdrop on their activities. When the season ended I could not wait for the second season to begin. When I learned there would be no second season, I mourned. This series is special and is worthy of savoring through each episode. Give it a try. You just may like it as much as I did. I have loved cooking since my cooking class in junior high… I mean that and my slight obsession of Ms. Julia Child. I knew at that point I had to watch! I fell in love after the first episode. The grounds are stunning and look so welcoming and peaceful. Then you meet Makenna and Kendall and they truly do make you feel like you are their friends. You are there hanging out with them chilling, cooking, having some wine. I have never thought of the idea of cooking without a recipe and it is so inspiring! I've always had books or even recipe cards from my grandma. I mean why would you do otherwise and then I find this! So exciting to think outside the box. Honestly, I can't wait for more and to try new things! See more Kirsten I @RT49841813 08/02/2023 I absolutely fell in love with this show! It is not your typical tv food show and the fact that it is set in the south of France makes it even better. The best part about it was from the minute I tuned in I was fascinated with the concept of no recipe cooking, I kept watching because I was sure someone was going to throw in an ingredient that just wouldn't mesh…. But to my amazement it all worked no matter what? To my delight I found out it took place in Julia Childs previous home, she would be proud of what these lovely people are doing … they're amazing!! See more dave b @RT51811019 04/11/2023 1. $8000 USD for 5 days is insane. 2. The chef does too much of the cooking. 3. Not very adventuresome. 4. I have not learned anything new about cooking. 5. The dogs and cats are cute. Two episodes watched. See more Sally H @RT34289685 12/07/2022 My favorite cooking show hands down! I absolutely love the freedom of creative expression this show brings to cooking. Attending the cooking school is now on my bucket list. See more Read all reviews
