In a general sense, what anyone can learn from the four-part series is the importance of motion -- of one’s body, as a part of a regimen or lifestyle -- and the importance of chilling out. Go to Full Review

It all makes for a pleasant travelogue, which comes with what should be a troubling subtext for many American viewers. Go to Full Review

It definitely will make you rethink your sedentary and fast food-fuelled lifestyle while also reminding you of the importance of having people around you to keep away the loneliness. Go to Full Review

Many of us will have been terrorised on our timelines recently by pictures of that creepy American guy who wants to live forever. This series thankfully ignores him but focuses on the actual secrets of great longevity across various societies. Go to Full Review

Dylan R Sep 21 very informal. I enjoyed the very first episode and it was very educational very on. Highly recommend this to people who really want to live longer See more Nelsa P Aug 31 I watched it with my family and we loved it! Very educational, and we’ve definitely started making changes in the way we live. America needs these changes. I highly recommend it!!! See more Richard S 11/26/2023 Way overly simplistic, filled with misinformation and targeted to criticize "America" even though the behavior he really is criticizing should be european and asian. Fails to mention any effect of genetics playing a role in longevity, even though it has consistently been shown to be a much greater factor than "environment" or behavior. In short , if you want to waste 3 hours of confirmation bias, sit down with a bowl of bean soup and enjoy. See more Stu F 09/25/2023 Sadly, thinly veiled vegetarian propaganda. This series is well made and has beautiful clips from around the world and short interesting interviews. However, as I already knew Okinawans loved pork and ate the whole animal and they also ate fish but strangely there was no mention of that. Just tofu and sweet potatoes. Same in Sardinia... no mention that they love pork too and no mention of cheese or eating meat on Sundays. Just pasta and minestrone. Then I discovered that the guy "investigating" these blue zones was a vegetarian who has sworn off meat. No wonder he next went to a Seventh Day Adventist area in the US. It's a pity because this could have been a great series. See more Maggie Z 09/09/2023 This documentary is extremely surface-level, with a real lack of empirical research throughout. The host earnestly advises people that eating sourdough will make you live to 100, with his "evidence" being that people in one of the "blue zones" eat sourdough. He constantly makes negative comparisons to America specifically by calling Americans lazy while never discussing structural inequalities that make exercise and healthy food out of reach for many people. Never once does he describe the connection between poverty and poor health outcomes - no discussion of food deserts, the stress of working multiple jobs to survive, unsafe neighborhoods where people can't walk or jog safely, lack of access to healthcare, or even genetics that predispose people to certain diseases. He frames the entire discussion around longevity being 100% in people's control, and therefore unhealthiness is a moral failing. It's extremely fatphobic, classist, and ableist. Furthermore, almost nothing he's saying is new information - the idea that exercise and a balanced diet will increase longevity is presented as though it's revolutionary, when in fact it's advice we've all heard many times before. I did find the part about reducing rates of falls among the elderly by sitting on the floor in Okinawa and walking around a hilly city in Sardinia to be interesting, but that's really the only part of the documentary that I found to be of value. See more Yasmeen N 09/06/2023 Inspiring, hopeful and very motivational. A must watch! See more Read all reviews
