Dreams of escaping cookie-cutter subdivisions for cozy log cabin retreats are becoming reality for many Americans. HGTV follows the adventures of families who ditch the hustle and bustle to find the quintessential log home. The structures come in all styles and sizes, from modest unheated weekend cabins to sprawling state-of-the-art estates. Although the maintenance requirements can be more extensive than those for conventional constructions, the lure of living out wildest fantasies in secluded areas of North Carolina, Montana, Minnesota, Oregon and Colorado, among other states, is too strong for the buyers to ignore.
