Episodes
Lisa takes Murray the dog out for a walk, and comes back with a different dog. Paul and Jamie hunt for the real Murray, and find that while the dogs may be similar, the couples who own them aren't.
Paul takes a night off from filming so that he and Jamie can have a romantic evening together, but constant interruptions from the phone and neighbors spoil the romance.
Paul's father has a heart attack, and while Paul goes to the hospital, Jamie offers to stay with his mother to see if they can build bridges and try to get along with one another; Paul and Jamie get caught acting out Paul's teenage fantasies.
Paul complains to Jamie's boss (Larry Miller) about the way he treats her; Jamie's worried about losing her job, then decides to quit anyway.
Jamie's given up work but has too much time on her hands, and starts to drive Paul crazy. She interferes with everything, from his hair to his work, until he complains.
Paul is supposed to be baby-sitting his nephew on Halloween, but is working and forgets to tell Jamie. She ends up taking him trick or treating, and worries what will happen if she and Paul have a child of their own.
While visiting a museum, Jamie and Paul wonder about what brought them together. Jamie's convinced it was fate, which annoys Paul. He's also angry that she's spending more time with her friend than him. The pair discover they once met as children.
Jamie thinks Paul has arranged a surprise party for her 30th birthday, but in fact he has something different planned. It all goes wrong when they are accidentally separated on a crowded subway car en route to the surprise.
Jamie and Paul are invited to join Ira and Fran on a free weekend in Atlantic City. They discover it's been arranged by Marianne, Ira's long estranged ex-wife (Cyndi Lauper), who needs him to sign their divorce papers.
Jamie's looking for another job but can't decide what she wants to do; she wants to go on a double date with Paul's boss, Lou, and his girlfriend, but Paul is against it because he's angry with Lou for editing his film and not telling him.
