Season 1
Marvel's Inhumans

Critics Consensus

Marvel's Inhumans sets a new low standard for the MCU with an unimaginative narrative, dull design work, weak characters, and disengaging soapy melodrama.

To make something from a Marvel concept this blithely, wonderfully and resolutely weird demands time and budget and -- maybe most of all -- commitment, and none of those three things showed up to set.

Despite special effects up the wazoo, it's utterly devoid of magic or wonder.

Well, at least Iwan Rheon is back where he belongs.

Inhumans is legitimately the worst Marvel adaptation of the year (yes, even beating out Iron Fist). In fact, as far as terrible Marvel adaptations go, you might have to go all the way back to Roger Corman's unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film to best it.

[It's a] dull [slog] overall.

It has hopeful and even good points, but these derive more from the use of the "magical Marvel makeup" that surrounds all its series and movies, than from the quality of the production itself. [Full Review in Spanish]

Really dull, has the feel of a cheap 90s TV show and has a cast of characters that are somehow less charismatic and interesting than the mute emotionless leader they follow.

While Inhumans had some rocky points (what pilot doesn't?), there were beautiful moments that make me want to continue watching.

Aug 27, 2018 | Rating: B | Full Review…

This is easily the biggest mistake Marvel has made to date, and they need to be careful not to make another one this egregious.

Finally and sadly, Inhumans lacks what all great superhero renditions must have: heart.

Jun 26, 2018 | Full Review…

Perhaps, if nothing else, the disaster that is the pilot of ABC's Marvel's Inhumans will dissuade network executives from the out-of-control trend of superhero shows. Inhumans is by far the worst yet.

Audience Reviews for Marvel's Inhumans: Season 1

  • Oct 17, 2020
Sadly, the lowest point of the MCU
  • Oct 05, 2020
This show is HORRIBLE. Worst thing since Cats the film or Showgirls. Characters are unlikeable built around a society that Hitler would be proud of. How can you like characters that support human slavery, eugenics breeding programs, and absolute monarch rule that built and defends such a society? I was hoping for main characters capture and death. Lockjaw is cool though.

Just hard to believe Marvel would make this. Everything about it sucks. The person that gave it the green light should be fired.
  • Aug 28, 2020
Man, it was a whole mess. I was waiting to be wowed by the this show and I was completely let down. It could have been so much more. Hell Agent Carter did more with less.
  • Aug 19, 2020
A complete failure. I am a big Marvel fan. I love everything that screams Marvel but let's be honest. This is the worse of the worse. Amazing actors in the hands of bad writers and bad, weird situations. I don't even know where to start. It's just bizarre. This show was a complete mistake. I would support and watch a complete remake by Marvel.

    Maby the worst marvel series
  • Aug 03, 2020
I felt like I was watching Power rangers! by far the worst production of a marvel adaptation!
  • Jul 25, 2020
I enjoyed it a lot. The effects and costumes were a joke but the cast was good (I loved Swan) and the story interesting. It did feel like it was made on the cheap.
  • Jul 08, 2020
Marvel's Inhumans was a meh show. I say meh because it did not live up to my expectations with some of the bad acting and terrible action scenes and weird design of the show. I give this 2.5/5 because it is a show on Marvel characters that we rarely see in the MCU.
  • Jul 04, 2020
I was glad to see a PG Marvel production and this was one of the worst. SPOILER ALERT. The story was initially interesting but this must been the worst writers ever. I could write a better script than this. Black Bolt and Medusa were so annoying and underdeveloped as characters. Black Bolt was an eunuch of a leader. He allowed his Queen Medusa to run the kingdom no wonder his emotionally unstable brother would. Sadly he ran the kingdom better than them two dummies. The acting was okay but all the supporting characters like Gorgon & Crystal were horrible actors. Please do not continue this show because it is really bad and find new careers for the production team because they should've known this was a poor quality show
