"Payday" documents the plight of millennials facing a financial crisis not seen since the Great Depression. Eight, hourlong episodes follow 20-somethings over the course of a single pay period to see their downfalls and successes post-economic collapse. Each episode is filmed in one U.S. city -- including Baltimore, Houston, Oakland, Salt Lake City, and Reno, Nev. -- which serves as the backbone to critically examine a disillusioned generation of people who are highly educated and streetwise yet facing mounting debt and struggling to find decent jobs.
