Preacher's at its best in its action sequences, and this one's no exception. The goal was to show how dangerous The Cowboy can be when he chooses, and it delivered.
Almost everyone in this show has long held some sort of stain on his or her conscience, but "Finish the Song" puts visible blood on the hands of three characters we haven't seen kill onscreen before.
Next week is the season finale and "Finish the Song" has done plenty to move around these characters into interesting positions.
"Finish The Song" is a hour about positioning characters for the season finale. After three wonderful episodes in a row, this one might have felt a little slow or low-key... But that didn't prevent Preacher from handling some needed character business.
Now we know what Hell feels like. The Cowboy makes another visit on Preacher Season 1 Episode 8 and we get to relive his own personal Hell along with him over and over and over again.
With just one episode left in the season - and God allegedly on his way - all of these plotlines are on the cusp of crashing together. Whoever ends up on top will reveal the moral fabric of this particular universe.
