A blend of speculation, science and CGI simulates an imaginary present-day park containing creatures from the distant past. In each episode, zoologist and wildlife expert Nigel Marven travels back to the Cretaceous, Pleistocene, Paleozoic and other time periods to understand what killed these creatures and then brings them back to his park, where special effects allow the ancient wildlife to mingle with present-day animals.

j f @ProfessorJ 06/28/2022 This show doesn't seem to know if it wants to be a documentary or a drama. The premise is that Nigel Marven "goes back in time" to rescue now-extinct creatures and bring them to a safari park in the present. Some of the acting is truly atrocious, but the CGI isn't bad for the time (though some of the animals now look a bit outdated). There are some unacceptable mistakes, like the narrator stating that Smilodon's famous sabre teeth are "enlarged incisors" (they are canines), or Nigel (who claims to be a zoologist) calling the marsupial Thylacoleo a cat.
