Critic Reviews for Revenge Season 3
All Critics (9) | Top Critics (2) | Fresh (6) | Rotten (3)
Revenge has ascended even past its season one heights, thanks to Nayar's decision to do in season three exactly the opposite of what Kelley tried to do in season two: take an inherently self-limiting premise and use it to the show's advantage.
That's what this Revenge premiere feels like: A recreation cobbled together after the original, more organic version was somehow lost.
It successfully rebooted the series for Season 4-not that the show necessarily deserved another chance after the mess it created in Seasons 2 and 3.
We're heading back to a 'Revenge-of-the-week' format, which suits me perfectly.
During the third season more than ever, it became clear that the showrunners' only interest was for Emily to execute her revenge, regardless of how ludicrous and tedious her plans became.
It just wouldn't be an season finale of Revenge without at least one death, an imprisonment, a set-up and a crazy revelation, right? Well, fans got all that and more with Sunday night's blood-happy finale.
I just have to mention that Nolan's outfits remain one of the most entertaining parts of the show.
Two points to Revenge for the intrigue with the opening and closing scenes. They were great bookends to the episode and made me forget about all the mud in the middle.
I have high hopes that Season 3 will be a huge improvement.
Audience Reviews for Revenge: Season 3
-
Sep 25, 2019Revenge's third season suffered from slow pacing, painfully dragging out all of its plots without actually getting to the point of each until the midseason or season finale. There were also more than a few plots that amounted to nothing and acted solely as filler. It was an okay season, but it could (and should) have been 13 episodes rather than 22.

Oct 07, 2014The show is starting to show wear and tear, but still fun entertainment.
-
May 22, 2014Season 3 is an absolute bore. The show should've paced itself. I found myself watching the first season & wondering how they were going to make this into a regular series. Overall, this is a classic night time soap, reminiscent of Dallas or Dynasty more so than most modern day dramas. Campy glances & dramatic music. I'm almost waiting for someone to say, "I'll do everything in my power to..." One very annoying thing is the character who plays Daniel Grayson. He's supposed to be from an extremely wealthy/powerful family, but has the accent of a guy named Sal, selling pizza in Brooklyn. He sounds so incredibly blue collar, I don't know how it got past production.
-
-
May 11, 2014While the show keeps going downhill with unnecessary storylines and new characters, Revenge managed to survive for another season with the last few episodes and solid performances form its cast.
-
Apr 12, 2014What happened to this show? It used to be so good now it's just awful and silly.
-
Apr 05, 2014Just love this show. Yes, it's a soap opera. Acting is excellent, many iinterwoven plots occurring at once, conspiracy story, very entertaining. My favorite tv show.
-
Apr 04, 2014Wonderfully suspense and beautifully casted Revenge is one of the best tv shows I've ever seen. Emily VanCamp is such a power house bringing ever aspect of her character to life
-
Mar 31, 2014It is time for this series to come to a close. It has become stale and boring.
-
Mar 25, 2014Season 3 revitalizes the series. Its now more about the character than their missions.
