Critic Reviews for Slasher Season 1
All Critics (5) | Top Critics (2) | Fresh (4) | Rotten (1)
Some old-fashioned horror is coming. And yes, it's here, and bloody good. Very bloody, though. Sex is at the bottom of it, you will be pleased to know.
Whether viewers will be intrigued enough to see this mystery to its end will depend on their willingness to wade through a lot of superficial soapiness.
Slasher has everything; steamy sex scenes, horrifying murder sequences, and a final girl to root for. The series really reads as an homage to the 90s slasher films that preceded it, and is better for it.
Whether or not it will flavor a solid story or merely overstuff it is yet to be seen. All I know is, they earned enough goodwill to come back for more.
Chiller's first stab at original programming is satisfyingly brutal and bloody - even if its reliance on horror tropes executed better elsewhere keeps it from ever reaching truly terrifying heights.
Audience Reviews for Slasher: Season 1

Jan 23, 2021I can't explain how shitty this series is, I liked the idea of the story but it was completely wasted, there is only one scene or another that I like but otherwise it is not worth watching.
-
Dec 23, 2020This series is clever in the script and features violent scenes. The series at the beginning is violent and ends up violent. The characters are well developed and have fundamental roles and The Executioner is very scary and plays a very significant role for the series I recommend seeing

Sep 15, 2020Does anybody else want to punch Katie McGrath's character and her husband in the face? Both are horrible actors and their characters would rather work instead of taking care of each other! I'm hoping Season 2 and 3 are better. There were parts to Season 1 that were good. Otherwise, cheesy at times.

Jul 19, 2020I really liked this and I am surprised some viewers gave a low score. It reminds me of Scream and the like where it keeps you guessing until the end. I don't find the recent horror movie releases the least bit scary but this reminded me of older scary movies. Watch with the doors locked.

Jul 17, 2020Skipped from episode 4 to the last one. Surprise! it was who I thought it'd be. Terrible acting and stupid plot. Avoid.
-
Jul 09, 2020While the idea behind the series is interesting, the show is way to cliche and predictable to actually be enjoyable. It looks like they had a check list for every possible dumb decision made in any slasher film and implemented in into the show. The characters are bland and boring, forced into "complex" individuals that does not pay off. Everyone has secrets and everyone has sinned, Desperate housewives did that better. Overall very bad and uninspiring show.
-
Mar 06, 2020Slasher combines a commentary on morality with mystery, suspense, and buckets of blood and gore, which is what good horror anthologies have done since EC Comics and Tales From The Crypt.

Mar 03, 2020quite alright.......

Feb 26, 2020Absolutely brilliant show. Not just gruesome gore for the sake of it but a clearly defined and clever plot. There is a sense of people having to take ownership of their decisions and pay the consequences for those which have catastrophically affected others. While the gruesome fates that befall most of the protagonists seem excessive, you don't feel quite so sorry for them at the denouement of the show. Most films and series depict the storyline in simplified terms, good versus evil, right versus wrong. It's very easy for the passive viewer to compartmentalize as such but requires little thought on the viewer's part. This is much more involved and I really think that it's exceptional. Clearly not high budget but made the most of the resources available. Kudos. P.s, I'm referring to the season "guilty party" which is the only season I have seen to this point.

Jan 30, 2020Bad writing. Bad acting. Bloody, not scary. Couldn't finish one season. Gave up.
