Those who remember the awkward years of adolescence can relive those painful days in this British comedy series, where the cringe-inducing humor arises from the ill-fated antics of its four protagonists. Suburban teenage friends Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, students at Rudge Park Comprehensive, attempt to navigate the social scene, attract members of the gentler sex, and saunter among the cool crowd. However, despite their best efforts, the four hapless lads usually end up on the side of the nerds.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Inbetweeners distinguishes itself from other sex-crazed teenage comedies with a sweetly irreverent take on the pain of pubescence.

As The Inbetweeners proves being a teenager in suburbia may be intolerable, but ultimately it's usually quite an enlightening and fulfilling experience - not to mention a funny one. Go to Full Review

Skewers the pangs of adolescence with broad laughs, likable characters, a fizzy Britpop soundtrack and enough candour to really resonate. Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, the odd gently funny exchange between the four male leads aside, there aren't very many actual jokes to speak of. Go to Full Review

I found The Inbetweeners to be incredibly entertaining. It is also very British, in that the slang, language and humor are very different to what is traditionally seen on American sitcoms. Go to Full Review
