When his best friend, out-of-work actor Alex, and Michelle's sister Tina move in with the Piersons in Los Angeles, the four adults try to remain good friends/siblings/spouses while achieving their personal goals: Sound designer Brett, pushing 40, wants to rediscover himself; Michelle wishes to rekindle passion for life; Tina tries to get her bounce-castle business off the ground; and Alex takes yet another shot at an acting career.

As in life, conflict resolution often comes down to people speaking in a normal tone of voice, or not talking, or just embracing what's obvious and unstated, which makes it no less powerful. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Go to Full Review

Togetherness has arrived for a second season with all its powers intact and familiar characters deepened. Go to Full Review

The series is very good at what it does, but I can't help thinking that more Gonzaga, Peet and Gallagher - in upbeat story form - would go exceptionally well with less dire versions of the excellent Lynskey, Zissis and Duplass. Go to Full Review

The affair continues to exist as a bomb under the table, and we're left wondering when this season it will go off. Go to Full Review

Togetherness, co-created by Zissis and brothers Mark and Jay Duplass, for all the unhappiness its characters regularly experience, is full of happy surprises. Go to Full Review

Suzanne K Jun 19 This show suffers from the fact that the main character, Brett, (Mark Duplass) is extremely unlikeable---not to mention feckless, boring and inane. He works an absurd Hollywood job in which he is treated like an indentured servant, with no breaks even for food in a 15-hour day. (he finally quits but tolerates this stupidly for a while) He treats his beautiful wife (who is mysteriously married to him for some unknown reason) terribly. When she cheats on him, I was actually glad. Later, after they have been separated for a while (and he has a new girlfriend) his estranged wife tries to talk to him. He loses his temper and tells her to "shut the f--- up..." Naturally, I expected her to become angry, but instead she just says, "OK." Are you kidding me? Those are fighting words and she just says, "OK?" This is what happens when you have a series that is written, directed and produced by men. So listen, Duplass brothers: when you say that to a woman, they are not going to roll over and say "OK." I'm an Irish woman let's just say I would never tolerate this. It probably constitutes verbal abuse, too...This was absolutely infuriating. See more georgan g 11/20/2022 The characters and relationships are realistic. Look forward to seeing more. See more 06/25/2017 I guess it's a little more consistent than last season, but I didn't like the first half as much as the last season. The second half was really good though, and the seventh episode is my favorite episode of the series. I agree with the critics, because this season did seem to be less funny. The series finale was fine too. Overall I guess I did enjoy the series enough. See more 05/12/2017 Under the radar indie charmer ends prematurely with a lot more story left to be told. Mumblecore veterans Duplass brothers created such a wonderfully understated series that it feels criminal that it had to end early while a lot of junk series keep on getting renewal. This is mature and deliberately paced slice of life urban comedy drama at its best. I have deducted half a star for the misguided glorification of the US charter schools. See more 02/02/2017 All of the characters in this show are annoying See more 04/18/2016 This season really built upon Season 1 and seemed to be moving along well.. only to be canceled mid-season. Hoping they stream a Season 3 elsewhere, as they left two pretty big cliffhangers that could really fuel the show for another two seasons. See more Read all reviews
