At times it gets very silly indeed and, worse, mystical. Go to Full Review

If you can watch it without constantly wondering who is looking after the children while the adults play out their mind games and melodramas, then there is much to enjoy. Go to Full Review

The script doesn’t know whether to feel for its skin-deep characters with their thinly explored problems or, satirising their navel-gazing entitlement, to despise them. This makes it impossible to root for anyone or invest in their narrative arc. Go to Full Review
James Hibbs Radio Times Jun 10

This isn’t a series that’s interested in a slow-burn of increasingly squirm-inducing social awkwardness. It dives headfirst into it, with the group grappling social faux-pas, financial expectations and underlying rivalry from the jump. Go to Full Review

Not many surprises, but the Zoe meltdown has the potential to cause havoc, as does the ancient plumbing. A so-so Saturday serial you can binge on iPlayer. Go to Full Review
Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk Jun 1

There’s plenty to tease, tickle and titillate here, but having set up a promising shooting-gallery of characters, Shepherd allows the focus to slacken with some curious detours into Greek mythology and mysterious psychological archetypes. Go to Full Review

Melanie G @RT01234863 Jun 8 I think I can see what they were aiming to do but it’s just weird and pretty bad - the worse thing though is it’s a complete rip off of the White Lotus but misses the complexity and genius of that completely. It’s maybe an ‘on the plane’ watch but made me irritated at how good it could have been but isn’t… See more Adrian D @paperdoilie Jun 5 This drama started well with a stolen kiss between two people married to someone else setting up the tension nicely. From then on, it descended slowly into murky ineptitude. First, the location. One minute it's a remote location, next there's a bustling market. Then there's a party with loads of expats, but suddenly we're back on remote cliff tops. Then there's no cash machine on the island, but people are able to magic up cash out of nowhere. And it's so not Greek, it's a joke. The main thread quickly spirals out of control and becomes almost unbelievable. Then, there's the pointless sub threads, e.g. overexposed sex scenes that have no relevance to the story, 3 lads who behave terribly but are indulged rather than challenged. Incoherent nonsense. But, I suppose the most annoying thing is that, the young Algerian aside, I don't like any of the characters. The story is not balanced and I really don't actually care what happens at the end (haven't watched the last episode yet) See more Susie S @RT48168583 Jun 4 Firstly, as a Grecophile, I couldn’t get past the fact that the landscape and houses were obviously not Greek so it was ruined for me straight away. Just lazy, sloppy location settings. It had a reasonable cast but it was difficult to like any of the characters. The references to mythology were tenuous and not depicted particularly well. This probably translated better in the book which I should have read first. Sadly, now I won’t bother to read it. Sorry, White Lotus it is not! See more Andrei D @RT74856639 Jun 2 It escalates too much and too quickly and, while aiming for high drama and some spiritual moments, actually becomes a sort of parody See more Read all reviews
