Viking Ragnar Lothbrok is a young farmer and family man who is frustrated by the policies of Earl Haraldson, his local chieftain who sends his Viking raiders east to the Baltic states and Russia, whose residents are as poor as the Norsemen. Ragnar wants to head west, across the ocean, to discover new civilizations. With assistance from his friend Floki, Ragnar builds a faster, sleeker fleet of boats to help him make it to the Western world. Through the years Ragnar, who claims to be a direct descendant of the god Odin, continues to struggle with Earl until the two face each other in a final battle for supremacy. Following that, Ragnar goes on a search for new lands to conquer.

In a two-part premiere entertainingly packed with incident and undeniably affecting moments, the pieces all have enough luster to at least give hope that they will fit together in a new, compelling shape. Go to Full Review

As for the long view, settle in. Look to the lessons learned, and still being learned in thrilling, shocking ways by Lagertha and her fellow women warriors on Vikings. Go to Full Review

Season 4 left an almost unforgivable mark. But the sons of Ragnar have this addictive dynamic that makes you keep watching. Alex Hogh Andersen as Ivar the Boneless is the breakthrough performance of a lifetime. Full review in Spanish Go to Full Review

Rather than the renewal I was hoping for in the back half of Season 5, the show continues to falter, an unfortunate mix of melodrama, one-note characters and absurd fantasy parading as historical fiction. Go to Full Review

Tesha S Jul 26 The casting for the brothers was impeccable! They could not have chosen any others! The bonds in the cast brought each character to life! The pure talent, these people were born for these roles! See more B. L Jul 24 I enjoyed watching Vikings. There were some plot holes in season 1-4, but still quite addictively entertaining. However season 5 is unwatchable, just a gaggle of unbearable incompetence. Show went on to make everybody an equivalent to the typical logic and behavior of 1990s horror film victims. Save yourself the pain of extreme disappointment and stop watching after season 4. See more Daniel N Apr 17 Better than season 4 but still far from amazing. Nowhere near as good as the first 3 seasons. You can tell the writers have changed as the story just does not flow the way that it should. They also ruined all major battles by repeatedly cutting from past to present instead of letting the battles play out in completion. Very frustrating watching. See more Michael S 09/25/2024 Even though the series is for the most part entertaining, there's one thing I have a huge problem with: The display of violence against even small children. Somebody might argue that this has been a sad part in human history - and still is. But I don't care. I don't need to see it in a anything that I want to see - let alone in aything I watch in my free time. Violence against children used to be a red line in movies and serieses. Apparently this line has been torn. See more Regal R 11/02/2023 50/100 - lol what happened. season 5 is soooo bad, went downhill in everything. the characters are so bad. bjorn can barely keep his speech tempo, the show which was once unpredictable has now sadly become very predictable. they just COMPLETELY changed some characters. See more Butler C @Scottylo 08/10/2023 Seasons 1-3 with Ragnar are phenomenal. Season 4 immediately slides into absurdly nonsensical tripe. I felt so let down as this trend is so typical with series which begin with such promise. Now…season 5; episode 5 finds a massive English army entering York; completely empty, not yet knowing that the Viking hoards are waiting below them (in the sewer system, no less) yet are allowed to suddenly force their way out by way of ladders, through 3x3 foot hatches; and back up to the interior surface of the castle interior, then somehow miraculously overcome the English army!! The English are so surprised as they watch them, one by one, squeeeeeeze their way out, that they run in fright, rather than lower their swords down onto their heads, during the feeble attempt!!! This entire scenario is so over the top illogical; and yet the producers & directors expect the viewing audience to swoon in disbelief as the Vikings win the battle?! Next: we suddenly see Ivar…THE BONELESS…walking around on both boneless legs (and one crutch) DOING GREAT, while smuggly flaunting his stupendous victory?! HOW DID HE CRAWL UP THE LADDER to the surface while wielding his weapons of destruction?! I'd really love to write some bad language here, in complete disgust… Unfortunately, this is the wrong arena to do so. All I can figure is that those that wanted this tripe to be 5 stars are going love it; regardless of the insult to their own intelligence. I don't get it… I've gone from loving, to hating the show. S5; E5…THE END. See more Read all reviews
