The complex realities of polyamory and "throupling": What happens when this peculiar rom-com fades to black? Can they prove their best, truest, happiest lives really are together, even when it's difficult and more conventional alternatives beckon?

08/22/2019 The premise of the season was near impossible after THAT finale. What happens after the perfect happy ending. It's so hard to pull off. And they really didn't here. I mean, the stuck rigidly to their guns that there was to be no more romantic tension. I thought this was my favourite show of all time. Then I was sad to find out it REQUIRED that tension. Instead, what we have here is a series of events depicting how snuffy and boring suburbia is. I, mean, Izzy was right all along, it seems. I thought this show was about more than archetypes and simplistic situations. But the only redemption from this dreck was a late-to-the-party emotional reveal that made the last two episodes bearable. Before that, there was a 'Poly Guru'. Yes, it's as awful as it sounds. Not a shred of humour or reality there. Just a weird cartoon moment, that almost ridiculed the central premise of the show, ie. 'Look, the polyamorists are clownish idiots!' One too many references to wokeness, one to many lines about acceptance, etc., as if they had to get them all in to show how liberal they were. I REALLY hope this isn't the only polyamorist romance, cos that would be a sad thing. So, we get a finale which FINALLY introduces sanity to Izzy's character, and kicks off what I hope will be a return to form for the finale. Cos this show deserves a proper finale. Oh, and one more thing. You know when a show is so desperately thin on ideas that we get not one, but three different new character groups. Yes! Groups! And these brand new characters. One group, in complete separation from the reason we're watching the show, which is the main characters, completely new. A new relationship to care about. Cos, having set up Nina and Shaun so hard it the last season, they couldn't break them up (well, properly) Instead, we get this half-arsed argument that seems to be lifted right from Nina's ass. It is literally an argument about how she insists on being pushy, over-bearing, cruel, selfish...basically a horrible, horrible person. It's no longer sexy. It's just obnoxious. Oh, oh, oh, I'm not done. There's ANOTHER subplot, because THERE IS NO MAIN PLOT. The other character and a children's book and...oh, my god, what the fuck happened to this show. It was SO GOOD. No, I'm not done. There's ANOTHER character and he...oh, who fucking cares. The only interesting plot point, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE ABOUT THE ACTUAL CENTRAL RELATIONSHIP, is established in the first episode. It has NO DEVELOPMENT over the course of the season. In fact, its all smiles for the Trakarsky's (and a bit of out-of-nowhere crying for a bit, cos this season needed more crap going on), until finally the plot point emerges at the VERY LAST SHOT. So, there's hope it'll pick up. This was my favourite tv show of all time. It fell of a fucking cliff here. It was just so dull. See more 08/02/2019 the whole story and the characters became so annoying... i give up! See more 07/26/2019 the writers lost the wheel. awful season. See more Read all reviews
