A man washes ashore in England after a shipwreck and is found by Mina Van Helsing (Jan Francis). The man introduces himself as Count Dracula (Frank Langella) of Transylvania, and proceeds to integrate himself into the lives of Mina and her friend Lucy Seward (Kate Nelligan). However, when Mina dies and her father, Prof. Van Helsing (Laurence Olivier), attributes her death to a vampire, evidence indicates that Count Dracula is the monster, and Lucy is his next target.

Dracula is an exceptionally long-winded enterprise which has been overproduced and overacted. None of the charms of the stage play remain, and even the ostensibly sexiness of Frank Langella's Dracula has dried up.

Dracula from 1977 with Donald pleasance was a nice look at the Dracula franchise. Now this particular Dracula uh done in 1977 had a great cast and a great take on the whole Dracula theme. This is what I would recommend for the whole family although it is got some parts of it that are little squeamish but All in all not too bad. I would think that the movie would be for children 12 and over. So if you’re a fan of the Dracula franchise and remakes then you will like this 1977 remake of Dracula.

A very atmospheric and chilling rendition of the legendary vampire beautifully portrayed by Frank langella. His performance elevates the story despite its weak dialogue. Still beautifully photographed beautifully acted incompetently directed this is a good movie for fans of the vampire genre. A great '70s movie not to be missed. I took a little off the score because I thought the movie ran a little bit long and there was some lagging dialogue but when the film goes it's a beautiful balance of some splashy Gore and some romance and a little bit of noir.

This is not particularly true to the original work, or Francis Ford Coppola's version. It also is not as gripping as any of the Christopher Lee Hammer versions; however, it still pretty good as a movie. The characters and the acting is decent. Donald Pleasant is always good in "B" horror. Langella is good in the lead role. For what it is it is a romantic and thrilling look at the world's most famous vampire.

SPOILER ALERT - DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT! - As I recall... When approached with no expectations, this left me absolutely enchanted by a dark fairytale with the hard scifi inner-workings that horror is best embedded with. Bittersweet horror takeaway. Mystical, wistful, At least, that's how I remember it. It's beautiful. I enjoyed it. I'm afraid a rewatch would be overhyped by the first experience, but the first experience stole my heart, frightfully. I saw it in a cinema.
