Shadow R @GeminiShadowRealm 3d If you go into this hoping for a worthy successor to the 1981 masterpiece An American Werewolf in London, you are going to be deeply disappointed. If you go into it looking for a cheesy, late-90s time capsule to laugh at with some friends, it’s almost kind of charming in how messy it is. The biggest sin this movie commits is abandoning the legendary, bone-snapping practical effects of the original for early-generation CGI. The wolves don't look scary, it tries to balance horror, romance, and slapstick comedy, but ends up falling short in most of it. Julie Delpy is genuinely great, doing the absolute most she can with the script. It’s not unwatchable, but it’s definitely not good. Stick to the London version unless you have a high tolerance for bad CGI and extreme 90s nostalgia. An American Werewolf in Paris is not a good movie. As a follow up to An American Werewolf in London, it's a terrible movie. The story is poorly done. It's full of lazy writing and plot holes.
