Critics Consensus

A juvenile, ugly movie that represents the worst tendencies of directors channeling Tarantino.

A macho bloodbath with a lot of juvenile humor and fake Catholic mysticism... Go to Full Review

Satire or self-parody would be vastly preferable to the film's unironic endorsement of outlaw justice, but you'd be hard pressed to find anything resembling irony or subversiveness in this exercise in lovingly rendered ultra-violence. Go to Full Review

The Boondock Saints, on one level, is a really great direct-to-video cult film. Stylish, defiantly endearing, and even borderline iconic. Go to Full Review

Ben J. @benj7075 17h Banger of a movie. Just a fun action movie. Don’t take it too seriously or you won’t enjoy it. See more Phoebe G @hdjsksjvshekheb Mar 10 Absolutely horrible movie. I literally wouldn’t wish this watch on my worst enemy. From the start it tries so hard to be edgy and profound, but it ends up feeling forced and immature. The dialogue is packed with long, over-the-top speeches that sound like they were written just to be quoted rather than to feel natural. Instead of building tension or developing characters, the movie keeps pausing for dramatic monologues and slow-motion "cool" moments that quickly become repetitive. The plot is messy and far less interesting than the film thinks it is. It tries to frame its vigilante protagonists as morally righteous, but never really explores the idea beyond flashy shootouts and smug attitude. Style completely overwhelms substance. By the end, I wasn’t shocked or entertained—just relieved it was finally over. See more Frans B @FransB Mar 4 Juvenile ugly movie?, really? Nooooo, not so at the time. Found it very entertaining. Lots of blood and guts, grit, spit and duct tape 😜 Action is non stop and filled with a bit silliness and tomfoolery. But hey, which movie is not hey? Whole cast shines in character and it made a lot of Boondock fans and followers. Very entertaining and memorable See more thiago S @Thiagostone Feb 28 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Anya R @inksolblind Jan 31 Some jokes definitely didn't age well, but overall it's a good action flick. See more James H @RT51557711 Jan 12 Not for everyone, but with moments sometimes so crazy some may cringe, for others its a crazy good laugh. For many of us a cool introduction to the acting of Norman Reedus. WATCH IT! See more Read all reviews
