Sadly, we never see McQueen win anything special, but that's more of a Cars 2 fault. The plot is nice, but a reworked ending would make it a 10/10 for me. There is still a chance for a Cars 4 movie to finish it all... I hope! This is what most of Cars 2 was missing, however they just didn’t execute it very well. They didn’t put too much emphasis on Cruze becoming the next generation, kinda felt like it came out of nowhere, I like how McQueen took over Doc’s role as Cruze’s mentor/trainer, I think that’s what was in the cards for him anyway, they just didn’t execute it good and it felt lifeless. I didn’t care about Cruze, I was devastated after what happened to McQueen, I wish they did more with his recovery and not a time skip. I’ve seen worse, I’ve seen better. See more Caleb K @CalebWatches Mar 13 Cars 3 – Review (8/10) A lot of people criticize the movie because they feel like Jackson Storm isn’t much of a villain. I actually disagree. While Storm doesn’t dominate the entire movie, the final act is completely centered around him and the race against Lightning McQueen. But more importantly, the real antagonist of Cars 3 isn’t just Storm, it’s time itself. The film is really about aging, legacy, and what happens when the next generation arrives faster than you’re ready for. Lightning is suddenly the one being pushed out, just like Doc Hudson once was. Watching him struggle with that reality, and eventually pass down what he learned from Doc to Cruz, is a surprisingly poignant arc for a Cars movie. It’s a story about realizing your prime might be behind you, but that doesn’t mean your purpose is. The animation is also gorgeous. Watching the original Cars and then jumping to the 2017 visuals makes the improvements really noticeable, especially during the racing scenes. See more Read all reviews
