Melissa M @Lisey Jun 18 John Landis was one of the best directors of all time. Definitely underrated. This is also one of the funniest movies of all time. The film is made by Eddie Murphy productions. Murphy has come a long way since SNL. There have been many rags to riches stories. But not many where the rich want to live a humble hobble in Queens. King Jaffe arranges a marriage for his son Akeem. Akeem tells his family he wants to sow his wild oats in America. He really wants to find his own Queen. What better place to start that search then in Queens New York. He & trusty servant Semmi find a rundown apartment & take jobs at a fast food restaurant owned by Cleo McDowell. They tell everyone they are foreign exchange students. Akeem says he comes from a family a poor goat herders. Murphy & Hall play various roles in the film. Each roll is beyond LOL. The Dukes from the film Trading Places make a small cameo in the film. John Amos, Louie Anderson, & Samuel l Jackson also have memorable roles in the film. It’s a classic: it set a standard of excellence in its genre and it has stood the test of time. Eddie, Arsenio, Madge, James Earl Jones, Shari, and all the other actors work together beautifully to create an utterly charming romantic comedy that leaves audiences with smiles on their faces. This is one of the most quoted movies of 80’s comedy and has so many great lines like "Hey Who Gonna Clean Up All These Flowers" and "You See I Love The Lawd" and "Yes, Yes, F**k You Too." McDowell’s and all of the barber shop scenes are so Iconic as well. Eddie Murphy is so good in this film and the rest of the cast is great too. RIP to James Earl Jones And John Amos.
