It's like the first he had somewhat of an idea what he was doing, then had a stroke and suffered brain damage then took a very potent psychedelic and wrote up this movie, then directed it. It is actually devoid if logic and reason. It's all over the place. The acting is god awful. I mean maybe they just saw it for what it was and just gave up. Not putting any real effort or soul into their performances because lord almighty does it show. It radiates through like a small beam if light coming through in a pitch black cave. It's obvious and does nothing to help this movie. Rob Zombie is rarely good. But this is so bad that blew my mind. It would take actual skill to write something this bad on purpose. I would skip this, it adds nothing to the franchise. It's pointless noise. If you think a slasher is only scary behind a mask, you’re missing the point. We see Freddy and Jason unmasked; Ghostface is revealed every time. A 7-foot, relentless force of nature stalking you is the true scary part. Tyler Mane’s intensity is far more grounded than a plastic puppet. This Director’s Cut is my favorite. Seeing Michael’s actual face, the hair, the beard, the focus in his eyes makes him real. He is a man fueled by 15 years of silence. Laurie’s bitter, complex reaction to her experience is the most honest portrayal in the genre. The "White Horse" and the return of Deborah give a surreal beauty to the chaos. Michael finally vocalizing his anger at the man who failed him was a perfect conclusion. The family is finally reunited. The loop is closed. See more Read all reviews
