In 3 acts he goes from merciless conqueror, penitent monk to condemned killer how hunting the evil that enslaved his homeland. The supporting cast of Alice Krige, Pete Postlewaite and even Max von Sydow as the father and king of the realm now hellvound. The story may be formulaic but the actors commit and the atmosphere turns witht the plot expertly. Extremely well directed, love the cinnamonography, very well choreographed high action scenes, lots of layers of detail in the sets/ costumes, appreciated the gritty atmospheric realness. It feels mid-tier in the same way Medieval felt mid-tier, but there are no glaringly out of place American accents in this. This was worth the watch but felt 15 minutes too long. The plot meanders a bit and the church scene about halfway in could have been removed or heavily shortened. STOP reading to avoid a slight spoiler. What was the point of the basement ghouls? See more Lucion V @RT49752042 02/20/2025 First of all let me say my review is a little biased. 🫣 I grew up reading the Solomon Kane comic books of the genre he was my favorite. I'm a little fuzzy of whether or not it followed the comic book story perfectly but I didn't care it was good enough the movie was spectacular in my eyes to see one of my childhood characters come to life in such a way this actor could not have been chosen better. The story was engaging there was action almost everywhere the excitement of what would occur it was a true hero's journey to face the big bad surprise at the end. See more Read all reviews
