Hard-luck cabbie John Winger (Bill Murray) -- directionless after being fired from his job and dumped by his girlfriend -- enlists in the U.S. Army with his close pal, Russell Ziskey (Harold Ramis). After his barely satisfactory performance in basic training, the irreverent Winger emerges as the figurehead for a ragtag band of Army misfits. However, his hijinks threaten to cause an international scandal when he inadvertently commandeers a military assault vehicle behind enemy lines.

Okay the movie's not PC. It's a satirical look at the army. It's not supposed to be taken seriously. It's awesome 2 gone but never forgotten comedic geniuses like John Candy & Harold Ramis are in this movie. If you ever get a chance see the extended cut of the movie on DVD or blu-ray. It comes with 18 extra minutes & 6 deleted scenes. You will definitely get the full comedic impact of the movie. Bill Murray is known for being quite a diva. But he often improvises in movies which makes it's some of the best parts of the film. Judge Reinhold, & John larroquette are also LOL in the movie. Some of the best scenes are. Any scene Where winger butts heads with the big toe Sergeant Hulka. winger & Russell stealing the Winnebago on & go on a half-assed rescue mission save their fellow army brats. When the soldiers are doing the crash course training exercise. And winger gives his satirical but patriotic speech. This movie is beyond awesome. That's the facts Jack.

Bill Murray owns the screen every minute in his finest comedy classic. This beautiful, brilliant, raunchy Army comedy is a comic masterpiece with heart. John Candy, Warren Oates, Harold Ramis and everyone else in the cast, pitch perfect! This movie makes me very happy!

I saw this in the theatre the year it was released. I don't think I've watched it since. After watching it again, I believe it's stood the test of time...it is still funny.
