Staffers at the restaurant Shenaniganz engage in various pranks and games -- both on and off the clock. However, in the course of one day, waiter Dean (Justin Long) must choose to either accept a promotion to manager or go off in search of greener pastures. Meanwhile, his co-worker and roommate, Monty (Ryan Reynolds), fights temptation in the form of an underage colleague, while showing a new employee (John Francis Daley) the ins and outs, providing him the worst first day of his life.

We can handle anything a prankster like McKittrick can dish out, if he doesn't treat us like the customer in Waiting who sends an undercooked steak back to the kitchen. He thinks comedy is all bodily fluids and cruel gutter talk...

A film specifically tailored for those who suffer through the insufferable amidst the world of hospitality, it's a meandering and muddled 94-minutes of dry (and even mean spirited) comedy. Having said that, and having devoted nearly 20 years of my life to the culinary world - it's also strangely authentic, and even mesmerizing. A film that's been passed down from server to server, from line cook to busboy over the last twenty years, this strange gem exists to counter the riggers of customer belligerence, and testy shift managers. It's also rudely hilarious, as cynical as it is. Yeah, I often find that those who hate this movie the most also hate tipping over 10 percent. If you're a server, hostess, or cook - do not pass this up. This movie hears you, and agrees.

I've always loved this movie. I've watched it multiple times. Its always funny and reminds me of my days waiting tables. Look how low critics rate it. That just goes to show what elitest prudes they are and have no clue what Average Americans like. Its probably the same reason a lot of movies today are lame. They are too busy trying to appease critics and not regular people

This movie is obviously appealing to a certain type of humor, but it sticks to its guns and ends up being pretty funny throughout. You root for the characters even though most of them are not good people.
