A complicated movie, simmering with knotty ideas, and redolent of its era. Go to Full Review

In theory, Burton et al believe they are more or less on the side of the angels; it all ends in chaos, but our heroes finally get their revenge, though the rather casual cynicism dates this film very considerably. Go to Full Review
Bob Thomas Associated Press 07/17/2019
The Wild Geese is a crackerjack adventure in the Navarone tradition -- wry, involving, suspenseful. Go to Full Review

For fans of such men-on-a-mission flicks like The Guns of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare, this is a gripping piece of entertainment. Go to Full Review

Andrew V McLaglan's tale of British mercenaries in Africa has vintage star power, big action scenes with Bond second unit John Glen in charge, genial good humour and a Joan Armatrading theme song; The Wild Geese live on in this welcome 2025 revival... Go to Full Review

"The Wild Geese" watches like a precursor to "The Expendables", following a gang of mercenaries played by high-profile British actors of the age. Go to Full Review

Alain E @AlainE 19h The decision to insert questionable comedy to an action movie make the result impossible to watch. As it is the graphics in the opening credits plus the Joan Armatrading song, is what survives, in addition to the first ten minutes or so. See more J H @JLHIII Apr 28 A bit dated with a poor music store. However it has a good story, some big names and nice action scenes. Also reflects the impact of greed and colonialism in Africa that continues 50 years later. See more Will G @Kingofthepixies 05/31/2025 Marvellous. Excellent, will be a little older worlde for some of the modern audiences. See more Don S @RT67300157 03/02/2025 A typical mercenary movie set in Africa but with an outstanding cast. A decent plot and good entertainment for anyone that enjoys action films. See more J C @RT02551071 10/23/2024 This is the best Mercenary movie ever made by a mortal man! What a cast. If only I was alive for the Congo crisis I would have been there, with my Sten gun fighting with the Katanga boys and MAD MIKE. Burton at his best, Harris - awesome, some Roger to top it off, Hardy Kruger pretending to be South African, and Stewart Granger - the Scarlet Pimpernel" himself as the background villian pushin the pawns and getting his just desserts at the end. Such a sad ending, every time I watch this, I am thinking run faster Raeff! And "Oh my - you are beauties!" See more Deborah G @RT66745212 08/24/2024 I love this film. A perfect 'pyjama-day, rainy- afternoon film' with an all-star cast & wonderful sound track. See more Read all reviews
