DAG: Season 1 (2000 - 2001)

Season 1
DAG

Critics Consensus

Noted actors David Alan Grier and Delta Burk are as likable as ever, but even they cannot save DAG from its terrible writing, generic storylines, and dull humor.

Critic Reviews for DAG Season 1

All Critics (13) | Top Critics (7)

For White House humor, you'd do better to stick with the Saturday Night Live skits. They're shorter, funnier and more pertinent.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

Weighed down by a conventional structure and predictable laughs, In Living Color alum David Alan Grier comes up short in his first leading-man role, getting few opportunities to highlight his spot-on comic timing.

It'll be nip-and-tuck to see who has to vacate the White House first -- this witless comedy or the Clintons.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

Only a machine, or some mighty desperate people, could have assembled ''Dag,'' mistaken it for entertainment and dropped it tonight onto the NBC schedule. Thud.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

A sad-faced little sitcom with "ill-fated" written all over it, the show double-crosses its promising co-stars, David Alan Grier and Delta Burke, with situations and dialogue that seem damp and moldy right out of the can.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

Kind of a stink bomb.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

This is a network that has truly lost its touch for comedy, and has been grasping at big-name stars instead of looking for fresh concepts and producers who can bring those ideas to life.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

If there's a White House Situation Comedy Room, they ought to call an airstrike and bomb this witless show back to the Flintstone age.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

It's sort of Guarding Tess: The Series, but surprisingly funny and even moving in a few scenes. [Delta] Burke is perfectly cast as the first lady and she has nice chemistry with [David Alan] Grier, whose wrong-way dive is a gut-buster.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

Charm and sympathy may be good enough to win the presidency or a seat in the Senate, but sitcoms generally need more than that.

Dec 5, 2019 | Rating: 1.2/4 | Full Review…

[David Alan] Grier and [Delta] Burke deserve better than DAG.

Dec 5, 2019 | Full Review…

Writing and timing seem a bit awkward, but [David Alan] Grier and [Delta] Burke are entertaining.
