The creators of the mini-series, whether they fully understand it or not, have touched on something large and important here.

I loved pretty much everything about the season: the way the enervating score closes in on you; how the rot at Geist even seems to have taken hold on its farms, stretching for acres under queasy yellow skies.

Intriguing, mysterious...even better with the second season...

This role was made for Janelle Monáe, I just wish the show's writing matched her talents.

Don't blame Janelle Monáe for the mediocrity of Homecoming... It's the story that's flat in season two, which doesn't build a mystery so much as it artificially creates one by playing with time.

Hong Chau and Janelle Monáe give dynamic performances, but lack the chemistry Julia Roberts and Stephan James brought in season one...

In its second installment, the Amazon series successfully extends past its source material...

Though the execution wasn't as effective as the first season, there was still enough surprises in store to keep me glued to the edge of my seat.

While Horowitz and Bloomberg have recruited a stellar cast that's doing their best to recapture the magic, the season feels fundamentally unnecessary and unfulfilling.

This is the best thing about Season 2 of Homecoming, in my opinion: pulling back the curtain on a scene in such a way that it, basically, becomes a completely different scene.

But the way it tricks its audience into siding with the wrong character is its best and most intriguing trick.

The story isn't muscular enough to really give the show the urgency and momentum of its predecessor
