Killing Eve

Critics Consensus

With the titillating cat-and-mouse game still rooted at its core, Killing Eve returns for an enthralling second season of considerably higher stakes, hilariously dark humor and a captivating dynamic between characters, solidifying its position as one of the best spy thrillers out.

Critic Reviews for Killing Eve Season 2

All Critics (67) | Top Critics (22)

Jodie Comer has perfected the psychopath. She's mesmerising as the ruthless assassin Villanelle in this thriller.

It still feels so fresh. Comer is as marvellous as ever, particularly when Villanelle is posturing (she acts acting so brilliantly); her petulant charm never fails.

Jun 11, 2019 | Full Review…

If Eve is our frayed tether to reality, Villanelle embodies the entitled, otherworldly glamour of both being in her line of work and taking pride in it.

New spin for a new season, but the black heart of "Killing Eve" remains intact.

The new episodes reverberate with a sense of humor that's absurd, bleak, and distinctly British.

Apr 5, 2019 | Full Review…

"Killing Eve" remains very much grounded in its original identity. This is a show about two women lovingly entwined by their own complicated obsessions, fighting for what they want in a world that doesn't understand them.

For now, the elements of Killing Eve's strange chemistry remain in place.

Dec 16, 2019 | Full Review…

Fast-paced, quick-witted, funny and sexy, Season 2 has just the right amount of irony and satire to counterbalance the darker themes.

But where other shows may have stumbled, Killing Eve thrives.

Dec 16, 2019 | Full Review…

The wicked humor is back. The macabre peculiarities are back. The riveting obsession between these two characters is back again, too.

Dec 16, 2019 | Full Review…

[S]eason two of Killing Eve is just as delightful and addictive as the first.

Dec 16, 2019 | Full Review…

'Killing Eve' is still doing what it does best. Showing that a female-led spy thriller can be just as entertaining and intelligent... than the genre's male counterparts, with a tight script, dark humour and flawless performances from its leads.

Audience Reviews for Killing Eve: Season 2

  • Jun 06, 2020
Still an excellent series but not quite as fresh and inspired as the first series. Acting, main and supporting actors are still absolutely outstanding but the stories don't flow quite as well. It's much better than almost anything else available so I'd still totally recommend it.
  • Jun 01, 2020
One of the best shows out there. PWB's staple dark humor continues to be sprinkled across the series, which complements the often times overly serious tones of male dominated spy thrillers. Jodie Comer is freakin brilliant and diabolical as Villianelle and Sandra Oh delivers a perfect balance of quirky comedic timing and borderline maniacal ingenuity as the titular character.
  • May 27, 2020
This season builds on the first by ratcheting up the tension and stakes, it also delivers more of the fascinating chemistry between Oh and Comer.
  • May 25, 2020
As devastating last minutes of season finale is, this season was deliciously dark.
  • May 14, 2020
It does lose a little bit of steam, since we've already kind of solved the tension between the two main characters, but everything else in the show is just as brilliantly written.
  • May 08, 2020
The story begins to be a bit more farfetched but still extremely gripping.
  • Apr 25, 2020
    Misandrist, unbearable and addictive.
  • Apr 22, 2020
I love this series in all her aspects... Villanelle is the most authentic new character in tv.
  • Apr 16, 2020
Eve doesn't have any agency in the story. She just, kind of, wallows around with great hair.
  • Apr 15, 2020
The second season is atrocious, sadly. Mind-numbingly bad. The first season is outstanding. Truly spectacular. One of the best seasons of television ever. Do yourself a huge favor and skip season two. We'll see about season three...
