Killing Eve: Season 2 (2019)

Season 2
Killing Eve

Critics Consensus

With the titillating cat-and-mouse game still rooted at its core, Killing Eve returns for an enthralling second season of considerably higher stakes, hilariously dark humor and a captivating dynamic between characters, solidifying its position as one of the best spy thrillers out.

Critic Reviews for Killing Eve Season 2

All Critics (58) | Top Critics (17)

Jodie Comer has perfected the psychopath. She's mesmerising as the ruthless assassin Villanelle in this thriller.

It still feels so fresh. Comer is as marvellous as ever, particularly when Villanelle is posturing (she acts acting so brilliantly); her petulant charm never fails.

Yet as the season inevitably outgrows the cat and mouse premise that sustained series one and Eve and Villanelle became more intimately acquainted, a slight flakiness start to intrude.

Jun 10, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Last series we saw a slightly softer side to Villanelle in her interactions with the young girl she abducted. Here [Jodie] Comer gives us an anti-heroine who's battered, scared, in pain, exhausted and outmanoeuvred. She's excellent.

If Eve is our frayed tether to reality, Villanelle embodies the entitled, otherworldly glamour of both being in her line of work and taking pride in it.

New spin for a new season, but the black heart of "Killing Eve" remains intact.

Watching Season 2 is like a second helping of an uncommonly delicious and hard-to-find dessert - not strictly necessary, but the pleasure of gobbling it up negates the minor downsides of excess calories and diminishing returns.

Aug 7, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Killing Eve remains far and away one of the smartest, funniest, British dramas on television.

Jul 29, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The strongest aspect of this second season is its unwillingness to reiterate or re-establish motive, instead twisting and growing to a dizzying finale.

Killing Eve tramples the tropes and stereotypes of spy stories and femininity with bankable style and flair.

Just finished season 2. One of the best psychological thrillers of all time. Jodie is fantastic and the ambiguity of Eve and Villanelle's grotesque attraction to each other keeps us asking for more. Already dying for Season 3!

    I think it is terrible

Its good but not as good as the last. some slow spots, the twinges are gone from this for the most part
  • Aug 22, 2019
Konstantin is fun. Jodie is superb. Sandra Oh is annoying now.

I kept watching because I paid for it. But I can't stand plot twists that are purely to move a strange, not satisfying story forward. I was rolling my eyes at every turn. For a fleeting moment: Season 2 Ep 7 I had a light feeling in my heart: oh! This has all been a ruse on Eve- they are all in on it- and she will end up in a mental institution completely alone. THAT would have been so satisfying. Then, no of course we had to follow this fake lesbian relationship (it seemed so written by a man, I don't care what female names were attached to it, someone was trying to please a man there) that I just didn't end up caring about. Every character lacked depth. They went no where, and didn't change. Caricatures of humans. The reason I didn't give it one star: the acting is wonderful, you really wish they just had more to do and had more to go on.

Pales in comparison to Season One. Lacks all the wit and charm that PW-B brought. Disappointing.

One of my favourite series. Love the story, characters and terrific acting.
  • Jul 29, 2019
A fresh look into female dynamics that proves to be both infuriating and satisfying in the darkest of ways. The guilt of appreciating these murderous characters is alleviated with it quick, witty humor. BBC knocks it out of the park with this surprisingly sapphic hit.

Just when you thought you've seen it all! Female killer like you've never seen before. The romance and charm is irresistible!
