Killing Eve: Season 2 (2019)

Season 2
Killing Eve

Critics Consensus

With the titillating cat-and-mouse game still rooted at its core, Killing Eve returns for an enthralling second season of considerably higher stakes, hilariously dark humor and a captivating dynamic between characters, solidifying its position as one of the best spy thrillers out.

Critic Reviews for Killing Eve Season 2

Jodie Comer has perfected the psychopath. She's mesmerising as the ruthless assassin Villanelle in this thriller.

Jul 26, 2019 | Full Review…

If Eve is our frayed tether to reality, Villanelle embodies the entitled, otherworldly glamour of both being in her line of work and taking pride in it.

New spin for a new season, but the black heart of "Killing Eve" remains intact.

The new episodes reverberate with a sense of humor that's absurd, bleak, and distinctly British.

Apr 5, 2019 | Full Review…

"Killing Eve" remains very much grounded in its original identity. This is a show about two women lovingly entwined by their own complicated obsessions, fighting for what they want in a world that doesn't understand them.

Mar 25, 2019 | Rating: B+ | Full Review…

It is these bafflements and examinations of the innermost and least logical workings of human emotion that leave us, like Eve with Villanelle and Villanelle with Eve, utterly captivated, and make Killing Eve so obsession worthy.

Mar 11, 2021 | Full Review…

Fast-paced, quick-witted, funny and sexy, Season 2 has just the right amount of irony and satire to counterbalance the darker themes.

The wicked humor is back. The macabre peculiarities are back. The riveting obsession between these two characters is back again, too.

[S]eason two of Killing Eve is just as delightful and addictive as the first.

Dec 16, 2019 | Full Review…

'Killing Eve' is still doing what it does best. Showing that a female-led spy thriller can be just as entertaining and intelligent... than the genre's male counterparts, with a tight script, dark humour and flawless performances from its leads.

Audience Reviews for Killing Eve: Season 2

My favourite show. Season two was awesome.
  • Mar 16, 2021
What a mess. From the best show in the world to the most disappointing show in the universe. As the show runner changes, it no longer feels like Killing Eve. Season 2 is tacky.
  • Mar 06, 2021
Season two keeps the narrative running, with the same wit and dark humor that made the fist one so much fun to watch. It's an excellent follow up that takes the characters we've come to know, and sends them on a new collision course in all its bloody and witty momentum.

The second Phoebe left the show, the entire "project" went sh*t. What a mess. Now it's just.... pretentious, wannabe, trytoohard and untalented.

If you thought that Jodie Comer was incredible in the first series of Killing Eve, then be prepared for one heck of a performance in this second instalment. It gets even more crazier, bloody, gruesome and action packed. Plus, series 2 is what got Jodie Comer her first ever Emmy win. Talk about an astounding accomplishment for the young actress. She truly deserved that win, as she literally almost died when filming series 2 of Killing Eve.

Killing Eve is still one of my top 10 favorite shows of all time and this season was even better than season 1. Jodie Comer just really steals the show for me but not to underplay Sandra Oh's performance, they just give two of the most phenomenal performances on TV and their chemistry is just terrific. Fiona Shaw, Edward Bluemel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Julian Barratt gave excellent supporting performances. The writing is just outstanding, the character development with Villanelle and Eve is just astounding. The cinematography is just spectacular and beautifully done. I love the music it is so perfectly and beautiful composed and helps to set the mood for every scene perfectly. The costumes are exceptional especially on Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, and Sandra Oh. The makeup and hairstyling is stupendous especially on Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh. This second season was perfect, an A+.
