Critic Consensus: A slowdown after the raucous first two episodes, "The Possibilities" takes the time to address the plot and get us better acquainted with Jesse and Tulip's checkered past.

Critic reviews for The Possibilities
Even in a world as cynical as Preacher's, cooperation is apparently possible. Hallelujah!
Mysteries are all well and good, but you also have to make what's happening right now satisfying as well, and this episode falls a bit short.
The series remains strong enough to glide along on mood, style, and the strengths of the performances, but after three straight episodes that merely hint at a grander tapestry, I'm getting a little impatient.
"The Possibilities" dials things down a bit, compared to the last two episodes, but it is still incredibly watchable and entertaining.
It moves the story forward and explains things, both of which are very welcome, but was definitely lower energy than the first two installments.
