There's not a lot of fires to fight in one of the rainiest cities in America, leaving the crew at the Tacoma Fire Department tackling the less glamorous elements of the job. Light on blazes that need extinguishing, this squad keeps itself entertained with creative competitions, friendly first responder rivalries, and bizarre emergency calls. Leading firehouse shenanigans in the half-hour comedy are Chief Terry McConky and Capt. Eddie Penisi, played by series co-creators Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, respectively.

James V @RT61906121 10/02/2024 After season 1 this show died. It’s unwatchable. It wasn’t even that good during season 1 but it was sufferable in the case of nothing else to stream. I can’t say the same about seasons 2-4. They’re disgustingly bad. See more John F @RT79660041 09/03/2024 This is a must-see, being the beat season of Tacoma FD by far, no matter what other ratings say. To start, the first episode shows a lot of effort in its camera angle and subplots, being the perfect setup to a great season, and, unlike *other* TV shows, only has one knockoff pandemic episode, then safely calls it quits. This episode, however, isn’t even the best of the season. In fact, most episodes are better than this one! The other plots are great, especially since it contains some of my favorite episodes, like the offensive yet relatable “Rise of the Machines” and the typical yet vast “Pickleball”. In essence, this season has the most diverse episodes, covering sexual hypocrisy (see Carpet Diem) and firefighter struggles, much like a comedic coming of age, as well (see Hell Week). Let’s now take some time to analyze the characters. Heffernan seems to have really gotten comfortable in his role as Chief McConky, who fits into the stereotypes described by other characters. Again, see the premiere for evidence of how the characters really shine. You’ll get a kick out of Andy from this episode as well, played by the popular and very likable Eugene Cordero. We see a darker side to him when we must bear witness to a sleep-deprived and sinister Andy. Andy listening to himself on an old photo along with Guissepe Penisi interrupting is the comedic equivalent of a tearjerker, so a laughjerker, I guess. Andy’s victory in the chili contest was also hilarious, and also telling his friends, “f*ck you guys!!!” After getting the order wrong for grocery shopping, is iconic. Gabriel Hogan, once more, is Ike, and “kills it”, as it were. Ike and Andy’s friendship grows only stronger and stronger, both facing moral dilemmas such as whether to eat animal-centipede-made coffee or not. Hogan also gets his own time to shine, such as becoming hyperintelligent from his vocabulary learning app. Hassie Harrison, as always, plays Lucy McConky, who still resembles being her own character while covertly making fun of the “I can do everything” woman archetype that the media uses too much of today and how it’s just as bad as doing the opposite archetype. Sometimes, it can go a little overboard with her seeming better than the rest of the crew, such as “Hell Week”, but it’s revealed that she is mentally less strong and even a little gullible at times. Granfield Smith, or “Granny” was always a character that I didn’t love too much, but his puppet-loving personality was really brought out in this episode, stating that you can do anything to Granny’s body, but god dang it, you do NOT F*CK WITH HIS PUPPETS! Penisi is as suave and mischievous as ever, harming or comedically attempting to help in any way, usually with the Chief. Their dynamic is one of the best by far, especially, once more, in “Hell Week”. Overall, each character shines in their own way, and, oh yeah, Delilah gets punished again. About 5 times. If I could give each episode a rating, percentage-wise, it would be: Quarantine: 82% Hell Week: 84% The Big Chili: 92% How I Met Your Mother: 79% Carpet Diem: 85% Rise of the Machines: 97% The Quiet Party: 95% Eddie the Chief: 93% Wedding Crashers: 91% Eddie’s Exes: 94% Pickleball: 96% Thanksgiving: 83% Fire at the Fire Station: 95% Ranking these would be a hassle, but let’s do it: 1. Rise of the Machines 2. Pickleball 3. Fire at the Fire Station 4. The Quiet Party 5. Eddie’s Exes 6. Eddie the Chief 7. The Big Chili 8. Wedding Crashers 9. Carpet Diem 10. Hell Week 11. Thanksgiving 12. Quarantine 13. How I Met Your Mother Though percentages may not add up to what I’ve rated the season, I actually rate the season by characters, episodes, arcs, and comedic factors. I’d give this season a range from 93%-96%, most likely to be 95% See more Read all reviews
