T Z @Kkkksjyegh Nov 13 In the beginning I didnt know what to make of Mel. Still dont. However I am pleased with whom he chose. I was peg all the way. Peg matches mel in everyway. I am glad that they are not rushing off to an engagement. Yes they found love and that is truly a blessing. But they need time to see if their love can make it in the real world. This show is not the real world. It brings fantasy and allows for connections which I beleive is necessay in love but the real world is exist outside the mansion and outside with both families. Good luck mel and peg. This fan is praying for you both to have a fulfilling life together. See more Mary L @RT62606025 Nov 13 It is always interesting watching a deserving group try to find love. Unfortunately, this chapter departed from the relatable group in Gerry and Joan’s seasons. Mel was a bit dull as the lead. They selected a group of Golden Bachelorettes who resembled the real housewives. Seemed to have more back biting and lacked the genuine friendships and support that made the other goldens so special. Additionally, the season was shorter with not as much time to become invested in the characters or outcome. Peg and Mel made a cute couple in the end. Hopefully, the journey will bring them happiness. See more Jen Z @RT40414434 Nov 8 My husband and I have watched The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette, and what made the “Golden” seasons so special for us was how authentic, genuine, and heartfelt they felt. The cast members were truly likable — real people with real stories — and that sincerity reminded us of the old-school kind of love that’s so rare today. There was something so touching about seeing people in their later years finding love for all the right reasons. It felt nostalgic, wholesome, and made us look forward to every episode and the next season. Unfortunately, that feeling completely disappeared this season with Mel. From the moment he made comments about not wanting to date anyone under 60, we were already turned off. That statement alone said a lot about his personality, and I honestly think it should have been a red flag for producers. Instead, it felt like the show tried to do damage control — trying too hard to make him seem likable when, in reality, he just wasn’t. Every episode was difficult to watch. Mel has no personality, no facial expressions, and no emotional depth. He’s stiff, monotone, and gives short, vague answers that go nowhere. You can practically sense the producers feeding him lines. There’s no warmth, no charm, no connection — just dull and awkward moments that made us yawn through entire episodes. And it wasn’t just him — the cast of women felt completely unrealistic this time. Many seemed more focused on looks and image than on finding love. It was filled with women who looked over-done and filtered, setting such an unrealistic standard for what women in their 60s and 70s are supposed to look like. It felt like the producers hand-picked everyone just to fit Mel’s type — thin, surgically enhanced, blonde — rather than creating a diverse and genuine group of people like in previous seasons. What made the first season so beautiful was the variety of personalities, backgrounds, and appearances — real people who reflected what aging gracefully and living authentically looks like. This season lost all of that heart. Instead of something inspiring, it turned into something shallow and uncomfortable to watch. Overall, The Golden Bachelor: Season 2 was a major disappointment. It completely lost the magic that made the “Golden” franchise so loved in the first place. Here’s hoping the next one goes back to what made it special — real people, real love, and real authenticity. See more Read all reviews
