Critic Reviews for The I-Land Limited Series
All Critics (12) | Top Critics (4) | Fresh (1) | Rotten (11)
A bafflingly horrible sci-fi show, the kind of project that leaves your jaw on the floor, not unlike the first time you saw Tommy Wiseau's The Room.
It's insanely structured and at times off-putting. But maybe it's not a near-disaster and it's actually an off-the-wall experiment that doesn't quite click.
It's one of the worst shows I've ever seen and, in that, one of the most fascinating.
This is sci-fi without a vision, a genre piece that doesn't know how its own genre works. The I-Land is begging to be forgotten.
Bad island mystery a Lost ripoff, has some violence.
The series is like a lot of other shows you've seen before, but that doesn't mean it's absolutely horrible.
The series bravely explores concepts and genres which are at least interesting, but once the interest leaves we're given a melodramatic series that does little to offer excitement from the streaming giant.
Over the course of its seven-episodes, The I-Land toggles the line between ridiculous parody and laughable drama.
"Things are going to get worse before they start getting better," says one character. As the series progresses, it is painfully clear that the character is right. [Full Review in Spanish]
I guess mystery box isn't an apt description for this indisputable disaster, as mysteries come with some intrigue to see them solved and boxes are actually useful.
Quite possibly the worst TV show of 2019.
The I-Land's clunky dialogue and generic characters make us care very little about why these ten jerks are on this island.

Dec 08, 2020Great story, not exceptionaly good production, but plot is definitely great. I liked it and don't see why this has such a low score (while some terrible shows have more than 50%).

Nov 26, 2020Labelled as the worst Netflix series ever, which makes me curious. So let's try, what harm could it give? And the result is.. HAHA. The conflict writing is awful, with people arguing randomly there. The motives aren't clear too, and that poor shark cgi? But not everything is bad, at least the island looks nice (for those missing their holiday) | follow us at @uncle.review

Jul 20, 2020This show is so bad it's infuriating to watch when you think about all the good shows that didn't get picked up in favor of this piece of shit. The worst thing about it is the writing. The dialogue is so profoundly stupid... It makes ZERO sense. It sounds like it was written by an angry 12 years old, too ADD to write down plots, just spitting out whatever stupid idea came up, never thinking it twice. Closely followed is the acting, like what the hell, I know it's hard to act dialogue that doesn't make sense, but you guys could have at least tried... Just awful in every possible way.

Jul 04, 2020While the series does have an interesting premise, there are just way too many characters introduced and the story is not well written. However, it does keep the viewer engaged enough to want to continue and the action scenes are done pretty well. If there's ever a time where you are completely bored, this can help pass the time.

Jun 11, 2020Honestly I do not understand where all these bad reviews came from! In my personal opinion this show was simply amazing. I would have wished it had a lot more episodes/seasons. I can say for certain that this was one of my favorite shows to watch! To the actors, great job I freaking loved y'alls acting, loved even more that this took place in my home state (Texas). To potential watchers, this is a must watch show, you will be pleasantly surprised I'm sure!

Jun 08, 2020I don't know why the critics hated this show maybe it was to far above their heads but the writers and directors did a great job. Yes the ending was very sad and maybe that's the reason they hated it but I would say it shows reality.

May 21, 2020This show is so bad, the only explanation is that it must have been written by the donkey brained janitor who works at Netflix headquarters and watched 2 episodes of Lost then decided to write a screenplay and secretly greenlight it once the executives left the building for the night. It truly saddens me that there are children in this world who go to bed hungry every night when Netflix has enough pocket money to throw away millions of dollars and waste precious resources for this slice of flaming hot utter garbage. Every single second of this show is so cringy, you'll want to gouge your eyes out, cancel your Netflix subscription, and move to a deserted island. You should probably move to a deserted island regardless, because apparently there are living breathing humans who walk among us in this sophisticated society who genuinely enjoyed this embarrassing mockery of art.

May 08, 2020The writing for this show was terrible. Felt like a very immature and poorly articulated execution of lines. Everyone except for Chase and K.C's acting was terrible and they spill everything almost immediately after. 3 episodes in and there is zero mystery anymore

Apr 16, 2020Meh... Couple of things that had me baffled: 1) Had the whole "it is a virtual simulation down after about 5 minutes. 2) Why was this given an Mature rating? a) I guess it could be a mind f**k for some. b) Texas warden smoking cigars and drinking booze. c) Violence, sexual innuendo, however no nudity(which is OK (good even), but is usually one of the top reasons for a mature rating...) 3) First few episodes seemed to be the best, then everything seems to be rushed way too much through 5, 6 & 7. Also at the last minute they throw in this vague 25 years has pasted, the world has changed, and you are not actually a 25-30'ish woman, but 50-55'ish woman. It was watchable, but just barely.....
-
Apr 01, 2020I know a lot of reviews about this are bad. They didn't reinvent the sandwich with this one but it also wasn't as bad. Kate Bosworth is so talented. She's always fun to watch and even though the story is easy and predictable it's not the worst show on netflix. I wished there was another season just for them to extend and work on their storyline...
