Biography:

Movies have always been a passion for me. Even when I was a child, I wanted to see movies that my grandparents wouldn't want me to see. Everything changed for me in 1990 when I sat down to watch the Academy Awards for the first time. I had a personal favorite going into the race and knew little to nothing about the awards themselves. Against odds that I was not aware of then, Driving Miss Daisy took home the trophy for Best Picture. I was ecstatic and it became my personal mission to study the Academy Awards and become a first rate prognosticator. In 1996, I founded The Oscar Guy, my personal website for the Academy Awards. Over time as I finished my studies in film, I began writing reviews in order to embellish my site. In 1997, I joined the Online Film Critics Society and have been a proud member ever since. In 2006, I was elected a governor of the Online Film Critics Society and am working on a number of projects that I feel will bring further prestige to the organization.

Movies TV Shows
The Poseidon Adventure (1972) 81% 2.5/4 EDIT “Disaster movies had already taken place on an airplane so a sea-going vessel seemed a natural evolution. The Poseidon Adventure was the result, a star-studded voyage of death, survival, and courage.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Cemetery High (1988) 0.5/4 EDIT “Cemetery High does a very good job of conveying the highs and lows of the period with a production that’s as lurid and visceral as nearly any released in that decade.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review An Education (2009) 93% 4/4 EDIT “What is the value of cautionary tales without real-world experience? An Education offers an intriguing view of a young woman who gets a lesson she won’t soon forget.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review In America (2002) 90% 4/4 EDIT “...although In America came in a time when such stories were in steep decline, it suggested there might be plenty of vitality left in the genre.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Pride & Prejudice (2005) 87% 4/4 EDIT “In a modern framework, feminist works of the past can still have an impact on newer audiences. Pride & Prejudice allows the timeless tale to gain new life without sacrificing any of its narrative importance.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) 81% 4/4 EDIT “When does dealing with family dysfunction not feel like a familiar slog? When it’s in the hands of filmmaker Wes Anderson and his unique blend of quirkiness, seldom better exemplified than in The Royal Tenenbaums” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review The Bad Guys 2 (2025) 87% 3/4 EDIT “Do our lovable animal friends have new observations to share in The Bad Guys 2 or do they suffer from the issues all sequels face: unoriginality?” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Shutter Island (2010) 69% 4/4 EDIT “Working outside his comfort zone, Martin Scorsese has made some fascinating genre films with Shutter Island being one of his best.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Three Days of the Condor (1975) 88% 4/4 EDIT “Spy thrillers have been romanticized since their early days on screen but films like Three Days of the Condor returned the genre to its realistic roots.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Kiss of the Spider Woman (2025) 77% 3/4 EDIT “While numerous adaptations are expected of classic texts, few modern works have gotten more adaptations than Kiss of the Spider Woman.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Dog Man (2025) 82% 2.5/4 EDIT “With the preponderance of animated films these days appealing to adults as well as kids, a film like Dog Man stands in stark contrast.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Wicked: For Good (2025) 66% 3.5/4 EDIT “What should have been a single film, Wicked: For Good stays true to its source material while expanding on the limited material of the second act.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Blue Valentine (2010) 87% 3.5/4 EDIT “Familiar stories told in new ways define much of the independent cinema landscape. Blue Valentine tries to present a familiar story with a slight alteration to how it’s presented and perhaps it shouldn’t have.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (2009) 85% 3.5/4 EDIT “Nearly every kid probably fantasized about the idea of food falling from the sky like rain and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs gives those visions life.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Death at a Funeral (2007) 63% 3.5/4 EDIT “Although the British comedy had faded in prominence at the box office, they were still being made to a delightful degree into the 2000s. Death at a Funeral proved the genre still had something left to give.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) 66% 3/4 EDIT “Avatar: Fire and Ash marks the middle chapter of a series that seems in no rush to get where it’s going.” – Cinema Sight Jan 7, 2026 Full Review Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) 22% 1.5/4 EDIT “After years of success at the head of the Trek universe, (Shatner) seemed to think he could do no wrong. Not only did he, but he excelled in being bad in three different roles, as an actor, as a writer, and as a director.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) 87% 4/4 EDIT “This is the film that set the tone for such attempts and while it was the only one of the original films to draw on such history, it did so beautifully, providing a roadmap for how future such reverential call backs could be handled.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) 81% 3.5/4 EDIT “The high level overview of the environmental concepts in the film helped The Voyage Home easily become the top-grossing original series Star Trek picture.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) 78% 3/4 EDIT “The central villain of the film is under baked though delightfully portrayed by Christopher Lloyd.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) 51% 2/4 EDIT “Shatner’s performance is always one of the weakest of the original crew and there’s not much here that disproves that notion. While he’s adequate, those around him help prop up his liabilities.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) 80% 3/4 EDIT “Miller was involved in two productions at the time this film was made, which may explain why the relinquishing of his full control to his co-director led to a film that was more verbose than either of his prior outings.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) 93% 3.5/4 EDIT “Miller’s vision of collapsed governments, feral gangs, and the ramifications of ecocide have become increasingly dire and prophetic in their glimpse at the near-future.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) 91% 4/4 EDIT “Tying various mysterious vessel disappearances into an alien abduction plot, Spielberg’s first screenplay for a studio film is also his best, exploring obsession and human curiosity through the lens of alien conspiracies and government secrecy.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review Gattaca (1997) 82% 4/4 EDIT “The screenplay is tightly written with a fascinating premise that explores society’s overemphasis on genetic manipulation as a panacea for woes they’ve invented for themselves.” – Cinema Sight Jul 6, 2025 Full Review
