Alain E @AlainE Jun 6 Not as good as Paris, Texas but Dennis Hopper, as Paris Trout here, had a talent in portraying a-holes that he brought to perfection with the character he played in Blue Velvet. The narrative is not perfect and they decided to separate scenes by several seconds of black screen which doesn’t work well. Racism operated in the South for over a century and the story of the movie is not as far fetched as it appears today. On Prime. See more Cynthia C. @Filma Jun 2 Putting a romance into a racist murder story makes the focus on the useless white characters instead of the lives of the Black mother and her child. Rabies is a suitable metaphor for racist minds. See more Dilettante 7 @RT82395896 Apr 4 Saw this years ago, still haunts my memory. As i recall, Pete Dexter deservedly won the National Book award for it. Got it out from Blockbuster, then got it out the next night to watch it again. Hershey and Harris did a great job, but for me the star was Dennis Hopper, who played the scariest villain I've ever seen onscreen. He's the one who gave me nightmares that I still remember 35 years later. See more 06/21/2014 Disturbing look at racism, with a nasty performance from Hopper. See more 02/14/2012 Good but not great work by Dennis Hopper and Ed Harris. They try but the script does not provide them with enough to work with. See more 11/20/2011 So this is what someone's view of racism in the South looks like? This movie is a failure on every level. All of the characters are one-dimensional stereotypes.
