Critic Reviews for iZombie Season 5

All Critics (7) | Top Critics (1)

[It] is a relatively weak opening offer for iZombie, a series that needs a strong comeback after an "ambitious but frustrating" season.

May 31, 2019 | Rating: C+ | Full Review…

What's beautiful about the way iZombie makes its political statements is that everything is so baked into the show's mythology, that it never feels ham-handed, but naturally fits into the world of the show.

Aug 22, 2019 | Full Review…

Doesn't give us a conventional ending and that's okay because this show has never once been conventional.

May 31, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

We're hoping for apocalyptic shenanigans with healthy doses of dark humour. But instead it's looking like we're going to get pedestrian cop-drama and some awkward relationship B-plot up until the very end, and that's a shame.

Jun 6, 2019 | Rating: 6/10 | Full Review…

Anyone hoping that Seattle's new leadership would help ease zombie-human relations on iZombie was out of luck during the show's fifth and final season premiere on Thursday.

Jun 6, 2019 | Full Review…

We have many of our favorite characters at the helm of their respective areas of expertise and positions, but from the looks of it, nothing has progressed since we last saw them.

May 3, 2019 | Rating: 3.5/5 | Full Review…

Much like the slow, often scary changes we've seen in the real-world, iZombie's setting has lost much of its sense of stability, resulting in acts of violent desperation that have become frighteningly more common in real-world America.

Audience Reviews for iZombie: Season 5

A acceptably entertaining and enjoyable final season wraps things up nicely

I thought this season brought the whole concept to a satisfactory, if rather predictable, end. There were a number of developments in the plot, most of which which you would see coming, but on the whole it was nicely wrapped up in the final scene. The main actors did a good job, with Rose McIver again showing the range of her talents in portraying so many different characters. David Anders was another good reason to watch, especially the interplay between his character Blaine and his sidekick Don E. There were many amusing moments running alongside the serious message of respect and care for others, and on the whole this was an enjoyable watch. Season Four, however, with Robert Knepper as Blaine's father and leader of his flock, was one of the highlights for me.

As much as I loved it, the show has become far too self serious and it is time for it to go.

I binged watched the whole 5 seasons in 3 days and it sad to say how bad this season was. It seemed like the writers were forced to end the show so had to make some ridiculous end. So many important stories were left with no conclusion. i feel like i have lost 3 days because of this season even though all the prior season were very very good

Seemed like they tried to cram in too many storylines into this series. Terrible ending, but some of the police work and detective stuff was the best of the show. Don't think anyone liked how it ended for Don E and Blain though. Ending was 0/5.

This show has so many things going on, yet does it so well. Sci-fi, murder mystery, romance, comedy, really something to watch with your significant other whom with you can never agree what to watch. The acting is fantastic and the plot keeps in interesting. Love it!

This is one of my all-time favorite shows because of the dynamic range of personalities the actors can portray. I enjoy whenever a show gives a proper ending to a series. I personally don't like when they the current events on a bit of a cliff hanger, and then jump X years into the future to do a short 'where are they all now' bit, but it could have had a much worse ending.

Ended perfectly. I loved the series! Great job!
