In the spirit of longform TV mysteries such as Lost and Under the Dome comes a playfully spooky, Stephen Kingesque headscratcher designed to hook you five minutes in.

Yes, this show lives in the past, but it isn't stuck there. Where, say, Fuller House or The X-Files ask if you remember your old life, Stranger Things reminds you of what it's like to be alive right now.

In the hands of its directors, the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things is at turns touching (when it explores teenage love and friendship) and harrowing (when it follows the creature that turns out to be terrorizing the town).

The films "Stranger Things" honors transcended their genres. This seems happy to propitiate them.

Stranger Things is a rare example of a cultural phenomenon that has delivered wistfulness and familiarity without simply giving audiences more of the same.

Stranger Things is nothing if not a surprising, sometimes scary, moving and successful homage to the era of Spielberg's 'ET' and the 1980s themselves.

The Duffers' meticulous world-building pays off again and again... None of that would work without good characters, and Stranger Things has those in abundance.

While deeply enjoyable, nearly the entire cast of Stranger Things is white. This kind of retro tokenism is not something we should be nostalgic about.

One of the best series. Authentic atmosphere of the 80's in all details. No other production made the crazy hair style of that time so attractive :)

I'm not a fan of either horror movies nor Steven King's nor even Steven Spilberg's. (I do not meant I hate them.) Despite of that, as a result, I was willing to watch it. What I can tell you is that the kind of man enjoyed the whole episodes of first season in 2 nights. Stranger Things is absolutely different from the classic SF adventure nor a horror flick with a bunch of bloods that frighten me in no pause to have some breaks. As a matter of fact, it is more just between human drama and detective drama. At present, probably I already get enough into the following series, then I feel like debating with someone else about how would it comes an end and human relationships like who gonna be whom. There is a bunch of things to consider. The story is mysterious, the main characters have each charm, all actors have good talent to play, full of pop culture references with good vibe music. Then, I want to emphasize there was less sadistic shots than I respected in advance only because it is rated PG 15. I recommend to watch it for who prefer Harry Potter.

There's nothing about this show that I don't like. It has three things that, mixed together, make an amazing entertainment smoothie: the 80's, action thriller adventure & paranormal monsters. It was everything I could've hoped for. I actually started watching the series once Season 3 came out (the trailer for that season was incredible and decided to give it a try). From a film analysis perspective, one of the things I love the most about this show is the chemistry between all the characters. I love it when there are multiple characters that you can mix and match, seeing their different personalities interact. Multiple characters create a world that feels open and real as opposed to a closed-feeling world that is limited by what you see. The soundtrack is also amazing. I discovered a lot of new 80's music this way but I cannot but mention Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein's soundtrack. Flipping incredible. It got me wanting to get into the music industry just because of the way they give the 80's feel to the thrilling and tense music. I have to brag that the three times I've watched all three seasons I never once skipped the intro. Simple but sets the tone so well. Hats off to the Duffer brothers. I admit that the first four episodes are somewhat slow and heavy but after that you get the most out of it. Please go watch this.

Remarkably well done. And ftr, I don't start jizzing over something just because it happens to contain references to "my fav retro things" or other such nonsense, but it takes what it's trying to replicate--I'm sorry, but there's really not so much originality in it since everything really has already been done in some manner or form--but somewhere between classic Stephen King (think novels, not movies, they just don't have the right feel) or the like, the science fiction movies of the 80's and late 70's, and a plethora of different fictional influences (not just sci-fi, though that's definitely the biggest part of it), and you'll get where this series is trying to go, and attention to detail does matter. Mind you, I can never get over the strong E.T. vibe: I think it's the kids and the bikes, really. I forgive that though. (No, I'm not an E.T. fan, sorry. It's alright, definitely an understandable landmark, but not a personal favourite.) Anyway, I'm definitely hooked, and it's more than hard to put down once you start watching for more than just a few minutes. Hell, it's damned near impossible.

Loved it, this series hits a sweet spot between 80's nostalgia, supernatural, horror, humour & kids adventure. Bit overacted by Winona Rider, and there's some suspension of disbelief involved, but that's par for the course. Good fun and engaging storyline.
