It appears to be in search of a much-needed satirical bite; there are occasional glimpses, but in the end, it struggles to find its teeth. Go to Full Review

Worst of all, the melodrama appears to empathize with, if not fully rationalize, the actions of the world’s most self-absorbed nincompoop. Go to Full Review

The show almost arrives at the dissonance between the world inside Kemal’s mind and the reality, but it somewhat ruins it by portraying Kemal as a heroic lover. If it was meant to be completely satirical, then the idea isn’t translated well on-screen. Go to Full Review

As nicely shot and acted as Museum Of Innocence is, the story isn’t fleshed out enough to give us a real idea of what drew its main characters together, besides it just being a taboo pairing. Go to Full Review

Jakelin S. @RT34551571 Mar 25 I loved it. I hated them both at some point… See more Audrone K @Audra0 Mar 9 This is proof that a movie can be better than a book. It's a work of art. See more Julia G @Jceleste Feb 28 Nothing innocent about either of the main characters. Their relationship was far from innocent; he would have been happy to keep a side piece if he could have gotten away with it, and the innocent girl was trying to climb the social ladder with her charms. Way too much smoking and drinking and a bit drawn out but still enjoyed it. See more soo n @Sooneaty Feb 18 I enjoyed the novel in 2013. I could not put it down. The tension and desire is compelling. As a reader I too got obsessed with the hero’s desire. I felt sorry for his moral lack of spine, but he paid a huge price for it as the affair derailed his whole life. What started out as a joke or adventure cost him his social network. His love interest is also not guilt free, she is young, poor, with the self destructive anger of the poor. I loved the insights of the hero’s mother when she remarked on this girl. " There is something in this girl she said, "anger or envy" foretelling an ending that did not fit with the flow of events in the end, and you sense tragedy, self created, impatient, hopeless. Beautiful women are not powerful, in fact if they attract the wrong sort of man, a vain rich main, they are very vulnerable, tricked -as they believe in the power of their beauty. Beauty can destroy a girl like too much money destroys young persons. See more Kenny C @Kerikil Feb 18 I read the novel when it was first published and loved it. I was happy when Orhan Pamuk actually created a physical Museum of Innocence in Istanbul, that complemented the experience of the novel. And now this great miniseries adaptation further enhances that experience. I have not revisited the book since I read it, but I remember the arc of the plot and its emotional impact on me. Snarky comments and reviews are always expected whenever a book gets adapted into a movie or miniseries. Reviewers often a lack of understand of the original essence and intent of the book and the contraints and uniqueness of different mediums of expressions. In this case, I think the director and the screenwriter successfully captured the essence of the book in a 9-part miniseries. I'm glad it is not longer or shorter. I binged through it, and emerged from it as if from a sad and beautiful dream. See more Atilla T @Treviewd1nce Feb 13 I recommend English subtitles over voice-over. Of course, in Turkish is the best with most depth in meaning. As is the Quran in Arabic most beautiful. See more Read all reviews
