It seemed to lack any depth or meaning but as a true Cinephile I stuck with it and it all became clear...this was a very good film, it was heavy but also had a light easy to it as well. It was dark but the ending made me smile when Bill finally started to smile. Very good film worth the watch if you have patience and like idiosyncratic style films. And there are some really great stylish moments. Like when the dad sings to Ricci, it’s a great scene. The parent characters are the best thing about this film for me. But overall I found it a big nothing burger. Vincent Gallo clearly is a narcissistic egotist. For example the scene of a man stood next to him at the toilet who can’t believe how big his manhood is. It’s a childish and cringeworthy moment. The film isn’t completely terrible, there are some very good aspects, but as a whole it’s not very good, not something I’d want to watch again, and definitely not something I could recommend See more Beth T @RT75296180 Mar 22 This film puts you in a chokehold from the very start. I had never seen the lead actor in a film before this, but his acting is absolutely stellar. The pure anguish, loneliness, abandonment, anger, and vitriol of the main character immediately made me root for him. A rough exterior, you instantly want to understand why Billy Brown is the way he is. There were so many scenarios that played in my head while watching that I would have been happy to see that went a different direction but writer knows best. This film is a roller-coaster of emotions and destroys assumptions in a masterful way. Ms. Ricci is stunning, and angelic in her role. I felt that every line she delivered was so genuine. Totally forgot I was watching Christina Ricci, and that has always been the marker of GREAT acting for me. I cried and prayed that the writer loved humanity lmao and, he does. I love a song a lot, so after 1000 times of hearing Buffilo 66 on dvd, I gave it a try. Christina Ricci acted her ass of off but no this movie sucks. Please don't try to say it's a 90's classic and I don't understand. The whole thing sucks except for some acting moments. Quirky, abusive relationship movies aren't nostalgic, it sucks.
