3/4 Evil Dead (2013) Lucius Gore The original is of course better, but this remake delivers the gore in a big way. EDIT
Posted Apr 5, 2013
3.5/4 Red State (2011) Lucius Gore One of the best white trash horror films in recent memory. EDIT
Posted Jan 7, 2012
3/4 The Innkeepers (2011) Lucius Gore 'The Innkeepers' makes up for its low budget and even lower body count with an excellent cast. EDIT
Posted Jan 7, 2012
1/4 The Resident (2011) Lucius Gore The film would have benefited from a higher body count ... EDIT
Posted Mar 13, 2011
3/4 The Green Slime (1969) Lucius Gore Despite the camp presence of '60s rock, laughable costumes ... and of course incredibly goofy-looking monsters, 'The Green Slime' is a seriously good movie. EDIT
Posted Dec 12, 2010
3/4 Black Death (2010) Lucius Gore While not as good as 'Triangle,' 'Black Death' does solidify Christopher Smith's standing as a great horror filmmaker. EDIT
Posted Dec 5, 2010
3.5/4 Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) Lucius Gore While not as original as the first film, it's just as scary and scores points for cleverly tying the two stories together. EDIT
Posted Oct 22, 2010
2.5/4 I Spit on Your Grave (2010) Lucius Gore Better than the original EDIT
Posted Oct 17, 2010
1.5/4 The Human Centipede (2009) Lucius Gore The film deserves some points for being sickening and over the top. EDIT
Posted Oct 13, 2010
3/4 Splice (2009) Lucius Gore "Splice" is one of those movies that just makes you ache, because it almost achieves greatness. EDIT
Posted Oct 13, 2010
Tormented (1960) Steve Biodrowski Bert I. Gordon is most well known for his low-budget 1950s sci-fi pics, but this little seen relic of 1960 is actually one of his better efforts. It is also one of the more entertaining installments of the always enjoyable Mystery Science Theater 3000. EDIT
Posted Aug 19, 2010
Charlie St. Cloud (2010) Steve Biodrowski For all of its obvious calculations, Charlie St. CLoud is sincere and effective enough in its intentions to win over at least a few cynical hearts. EDIT
Posted Aug 3, 2010
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (2010) Steve Biodrowski Kids will probably get a kick out of the animal antics, but their parents will likely be bored, despite occasionally witty touches obviously added with adults in mind. EDIT
Posted Aug 3, 2010
3/4 Survival of the Dead (2009) Lucius Gore A decent zombie film EDIT
Posted May 30, 2010
3.5/4 Triangle (2009) Lucius Gore 'Triangle' is one of the most intelligent, thought provoking genre films in recent memory. EDIT
Posted Feb 20, 2010
3/4 Pandorum (2009) Lucius Gore A little bit 'Eden Log,' a little bit 'Descent,' and a whole lot of 'Alien,' 'Pandorum' ultimately succeeds as a watchable sci-fi/horror/mystery. EDIT
Posted Feb 20, 2010
3/4 Daybreakers (2009) Lucius Gore Set in a near future where the entire planet has been taken over by vampires, the film is actually quite pertinent in these post-credit crisis times. EDIT
Posted Feb 20, 2010
3/4 Zombieland (2009) Lucius Gore There was a time when "zombie" films were edgy and alternative. That time has clearly passed. EDIT
Posted Oct 2, 2009
3.5/4 Paranormal Activity (2007) Lucius Gore An instant classic of the mockumentary genre EDIT
Posted Sep 24, 2009
2.75/4 Halloween II (2009) Lucius Gore OK but not great EDIT

Posted Aug 8, 2009
2.5/4 House of Death (1981) Lucius Gore Slow moving but oddly entertaining, 'House of Death' remains a fun time capsule from the slasher era. EDIT
Posted Aug 7, 2009
2.75/3 The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) Lucius Gore Not as scary as 2005's 'Amityville Horror' but good nonetheless. EDIT

Posted Jun 10, 2009
2.5/4 The Burrowers (2008) Lucius Gore ... proves once again that the old west still isn't the ideal place to set a monster movie. EDIT
Posted May 22, 2009
2/4 Eden Log (2007) Lucius Gore A passable French sci-fi film, but far from great. EDIT
Posted May 22, 2009
3.25/4 Black Devil Doll (2007) Lucius Gore Director Jonathan Lewis managed to put together a hilarious, over-the-top, sex-filled gorefest on a shoestring budget -- and somehow managed to afford James Bond-style opening credits for the event. EDIT
Posted May 8, 2009
3/4 Plague Town (2008) Lucius Gore ... this movie grabs you by the throat and never lets go. EDIT
Posted Apr 27, 2009

3/4 Centerfold Girls (1977) Lucius Gore A highly entertaining grindhouse slasher ... EDIT
Posted Apr 2, 2009
2/4 Martyrs (2008) Lucius Gore 'Martyrs' is initially shocking and strong, but eventually falls apart once we are informed about what the hell is going on. EDIT
Posted Mar 30, 2009
1.5/4 Dead Time Stories (1986) Lucius Gore All in all, this is a bad horror and bad comedy film. EDIT
Posted Mar 24, 2009
3/4 Dead of Night (1977) Lucius Gore ... you may just want to fast forward to the final tale. EDIT
Posted Mar 24, 2009
3.5/4 Shuttle (2008) Lucius Gore One hell of a terrifying ride ... EDIT
Posted Mar 11, 2009
3/4 Dead in 3 Days (2006) Lucius Gore It's probably the best slasher film to come out of Europe since Alex Aja's now classic gore fest 'High Tension.' EDIT
Posted Mar 9, 2009
3/4 Red Sands (2009) Lucius Gore While not a perfect film, it was visionary and impressive given a tiny budget. EDIT
Posted Mar 2, 2009
1.5/4 Sweet Sixteen (1983) Lucius Gore The film may generate a little bit more interest this year because "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" seems to have taken a little inspiration from it. EDIT
Posted Feb 26, 2009
2.5/4 Dorothy Mills (2008) Lucius Gore "Dorothy Mills" is atmospheric and well acted, but too derivative to be memorable. EDIT
Posted Feb 26, 2009
2/4 Friday the 13th (2009) Lucius Gore There have been worse Jason films, if that's any consolation. EDIT
Posted Feb 14, 2009
Street Fighter (1994) Steve Biodrowski The story of STREET FIGHTER is a mere trifle, but who cares? The real problem is that...the visceral impact is practically nil. EDIT
Posted Feb 12, 2009
3/4 The Midnight Meat Train (2008) Lucius Gore This is the best Clive Barker-inspired movie in a long, long time -- probably since "Hellraiser III" in 1992. EDIT
Posted Feb 9, 2009
Coraline (2009) Steve Biodrowski Coraline mixes the dark and the light in the perfect amounts; the result is all the sweeter for having dared to tread the bitter path of childhood fears and uncertainties. EDIT
Posted Feb 6, 2009
Howl's Moving Castle (2004) Steve Biodrowski Howl's Moving Castle is a perfect epitome of Miyazaki's work, in all its strengths and weaknesses: it's filled with heart-felt themes...but how these elements connect on a plot level is subjugated to how beautifully they are rendered on screen. EDIT
Posted Feb 5, 2009
Princess Mononoke (1997) Steve Biodrowski From the very opening frames, Miyazaki proves himself a total master of the medium... EDIT
Posted Feb 5, 2009
