Rating Title/Year Author
7/10 Avengers: Endgame (2019) John Campea Despite the first 2 hours being a mix of pros and cons, the final hour is perhaps the greatest hour in the history of the genre, making Endgame a truly satisfying conclusion to the 22 film arc. EDIT

8.5/10 Shazam! (2019) John Campea A magnificently heartfelt, entertaining and hilarious look at a what happens when a good kid takes on the body of a man and the powers of a god. Solidifies DC's new direction! EDIT

7/10 Captain Marvel (2019) John Campea An important Marvel movie that connects a lot of dots the MCU has generated over 20+ films. Not one of the TOP tier MCU films, but a solid and entertaining one nonetheless EDIT

4/10 Glass (2019) John Campea A wasted opportunity of a movie that tries to shamelessly pander to a fan base it clearly doesn't actually understand. Flashes of excellence that never materializes into anything more than fleeting moments. EDIT

9/10 Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) John Campea A magnificent introduction to Miles Morales who most fans don't know, all while honoring and highlighting Peter Parker who we all know. EDIT

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) John Campea I really appreciated what they did in this film, though I am not a Potterhead... EDIT
Posted Nov 21, 2018
Overlord (2018) John Campea Overlord is a fun film. It's really well done, exciting, gruesome, and all of the things you were looking to see...it's tonally consistent with the trailers. EDIT
Posted Nov 20, 2018
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) John Campea It has that kind of heart pounding intensity in action that just goes from the beginning of the film right through to the end and even the moments that the movie pauses. EDIT
Posted Nov 16, 2018
Death Wish (2018) John Campea I like Eli Roth and Bruce Willis, but I couldn't wait to get out of the theater. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Red Sparrow (2018) John Campea They do a good job with the political intrigue of it, but it's just not enough to overcome the unbearable sluggishness of it. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
A Wrinkle in Time (2018) John Campea There was lots of potential here. It's a challenging movie to make, as you can tell from the source material...but at the end of the day, it doesn't work. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Tomb Raider (2018) John Campea Good enough if you run out and give it a shot...not good enough to open the floodgates of a new era of video game movie greatness. The adventure of the film feels great, and tangible. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Pacific Rim Uprising (2018) John Campea The problem is, for the vast majority of the film, you have straight narrative that isn't particularly interesting, and you find yourself checking out before you get to the action. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Isle of Dogs (2018) John Campea Great dialogue, really good heart, and most of the humor does indeed work. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Ready Player One (2018) John Campea It's a win across the board...when Spielberg decides to use a piece of pop culture or nostalgia, he uses it as an integral part of the story. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Blockers (2018) John Campea While it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, and John Cena isn't quite there yet as a leading man in a movie...it's still funny and it still delivers laughs. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
A Quiet Place (2018) John Campea This movie is a winner on every level...I won't be shocked at all if people start talking about A Quiet Place getting Oscar buzz. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Rampage (2018) John Campea If you go in with a big soda and a big bowl of popcorn, you'll probably have a good time too...it's a movie that understands the ridiculousness of its premise and embrace it. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) John Campea You do feel the weight of a little too much going on, but at the end of the day, the movie never breaks under that. Easily the best villain the MCU has ever had. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Deadpool 2 (2018) John Campea Probably the best end sequence of any comic book movie of all-time...the entertainment value of Deadpool 2 is off the charts. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) John Campea It's not a perfect film, but it is a pure fun summer adventure. That's what they were going for, and that's what they absolutely crush. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) John Campea It does a pretty damn good job, and overcomes its shortcomings in relation to its villain. It doesn't live up to the magic of the first, but you get past that with the thrills and horrors and scares that a Jurassic movie gives you. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Ocean's 8 (2018) John Campea I genuinely laughed throughout the film...there are some nice peppered-in cameos and surprises as well. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Tag (2018) John Campea I had a good time watching it overall, just don't expect anything Oscar-worthy. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Incredibles 2 (2018) John Campea Another huge triumph for Pixar. What an amazing job by Brad Bird. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Ant-Man and The Wasp (2018) John Campea A charming, fun and entertaining ride all along the way. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) John Campea It just shouldn't exist...overall, save your money. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
The Meg (2018) John Campea Terrible dialogue. Really forced, awful emotionalism here and there. It felt like actors not really having a sense of direction. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Crazy Rich Asians (2018) John Campea A fairly-harmless, often-charming and entertaining paint-by-numbers romantic comedy...it has some good laughs along the way, and I walked out having been entertained. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
Mile 22 (2018) John Campea The underlying story made no sense, none. This was a frustrating movie to watch. EDIT
Posted Aug 27, 2018
The Happytime Murders (2018) John Campea It works as a 1980s-style buddy-cop movie, a love letter to that style. I was eating it up on that level as well. EDIT
